This is almost a poll, but not quite.

As a writer, everything I offer up is fodder for criticism. This is a major undertaking, with multiple authors and many different opinions of how things should go, so (with Zyraen's permission) I wanted to see what the public thinks.

This could be anything from the writing style to NPC interactions to battle styles. Anything wahtever.

The mod is not going to be completely true to BG2 in its style: that is a given, considering that this is an interpretation of a series of penned legends and (usually) enigmatic characters.

Anyone can comment. And please do: this is such a big project that public input is vital.

 I would like to see a couple more... exotic NPCs than what I saw. Maybe I didn't see them all, but what I saw was mostly elves/humans, if not all.

At the moment, Khorin is the only character that is not a human or elf (as he is a dwarf).

Taking the suggested plot into consideration, all of the main characters are either elves or men. There are a few dwarves, as well, and plenty of orcs. However, since the PC is on the side fighting the orcs, they are not good for allies. The Haradrim are also not involved in the Silmarillion, so they are not here.

Still, just because the NPCs are elven and human (with the one exception), any exoticness comes from their backgrounds, personalities, and conversations. The posted character descriptions do not even come close to explaining at all what the characters are actually like. Not one of them is ordinary. Tolkien had a penchant for creating extraordinary characters. In that sense, they are exotic because they are different.

The final reason for so few races is the lack of writers. Already there are more characters than can be handled. It would be excellent for there to be more, but there is simply not enough manpower to do it at the moment. Maybe in later versions there could be more added, but nothing is certain. If anyone wants to help, contact Zyraen. I can guarantee that there is always something that has to be done.

If you like I could give you some mini-sneaks on certain characters so you might understand more about their background and history. Alternatively suggestions on what details I could add to the public NPC Listing is also good, so that everyone can have a better understanding of the characters.

If you want the full details of any NPC (most are finalised, but not all of them are), inclusive of Background, Personality, Romance, you can just PM me, I'll get back to you on that.

Meantime, as stnemele noted, Writers are always more than welcome ^^;; understaffed as usual... lol.

We could have a bonus mission playing the Balrogs trying to get someone down if the plot required - could be fun too :P

Actually most of the requirements to get the Special Weapons are something like Bonus Missions ^^;; embedded within the existing missions.

But if you mean totally separate missions, hmm sure why not? It wouldn't fit in the main story at all, yet that's what Silmarillion Battlefields are for :) if you look at my other topic for seeking Playtesters
