Stucked in the temple of Bhaal after killing Sarevok

Hi, guys
I am playing my first trilogy game (1.05b) and have no idea what is supposed to happen in this phase of the game. I tried to read through some threads in this forum but couldn't find any one dealing with this particular issue. The game works fine until Sarevok dies, then it starts stuttering and I can't find any exit from the temple. Tried to CLUA my party back to Baldur's Gate and talk to Belt but he has nothing to say. I guess I have either too many mods installed or an incorrect installation order, still any help would be much appreciated.

Did Sarevok say anything just before he died? Another thing to test, if you Ctrl-Y Sarevok, does he immediately die?
Try killing him once more and see what happens.

Can you also do the following for me:

Navigate to the directory where you have this BGT-WeiDU installed in Windows Explorer.
Rename any one of the Setup-*.exe files to WeiDU.exe (unless a WeiDU.exe is there already).
Go to your command line (Run... cmd), and navigate to the BGT-WeiDU installation directory.
Then type in

WeiDU --change-log SAREVO.CRE >> log.txt

Wait for it to finish, then type in

WeiDU --change-log BGMINHP1.ITM >> log.txt

Wait for it to finish, then quit cmd.
A text file called log.txt should be created in your BGT-WeiDU installation directory. Can you post its textual contents?

I went through the maze and the undercity once again using one of my old saves, this time I didn't experience any stuttering when Sarevok died. Surprisingly there was no stuttering even when I used the original save which had been causing it prior going through the maze again. Despite of that I am still unable to leave the temple. I can leave until I talk with Sarevok for the first time, after that the arrow-through-door cursor disappears and won't reappear after killing Sarevok.
The last thing Sarevok said is that I had removed his shields (after killing all his minions) but he won't be denied, he's the Lord of Murder, or something like that. Until this talk he can't be CTRL-Y-ed nor can be killed by any other means, that will make him only near-death, which is the correct way of things I assume. After the talk he can be killed by CTRL-Y or normally. Is he supposed to have another talk to me before he dies? Once I experienced something similar with Sendai, she didn't have her final talk before she died and I was unable to leave her enclave because the portal had not appeared, reinstall solved it however. Does it work like that with Sarevok? Shame the trilogy with big-picture can't be simply reinstalled as well from what I understand.

As for the second part of your post, I already have a WeiDU.exe file in my BGII - SoA directory (where I have the whole game installed). I open cmd.exe in my Windows as you suggest but then I am absolutely clueless. There is a 'C:\WINNT\system32>' line, what should I do next? Take my apologize for causing you trouble with this, I am not an English native speaker nor a programmer, so if you could be a bit more patient with me and explain it step by step.

When you get to the line you have listed above try cd\ then enter that should get you to your C:\> prompt. Then type in cd\program files\black isle\bgii - soa which will get you to your C:\program files\black isle\bgii - soa> line. Then you should be able to enter in the command string Ascension64 mentions above. Be aware, depending on the speed of your processor, it could take a very long time to complete the process. Just let it run and go have dinner or something. :whistling:

sometimes stuttering is caused by too many files in /temp and/or /cache. since you did not get any stuttering when running your game again, even with the old save, i suspect your /temp and /cache to be the cause.

Thanks for the log. I'll try and work out if SCS and BP hurt Sarevok in some way that may effect a stutter or a lack of epilogue.

SCS is the only one that changes Sarevok a lot. It worked OK in my run, but it may be a sporadic problem.

I think the addition of Global("DMWWSarevokFight","GLOBAL",4) to the following block in scs/endbattle/_sarevok.baf might ensure stability so Sarevok dies properly.

Don't know if this really is the problem, though. Sarevok should never be Ctrl+Y-able and can never be killed normally in BGT-WeiDU, with or without SCS.

I've been playing around trying to learn the commands, seeing if I can debug some (for the first time ever).
I'm trying to execute this command in the console at the appropriate time: ActionOverride(Myself,StartDialogue("SARDEAD",[PC]))

I'm guessing I should do something like: ActionOverride("_sarevok",StartDialogue("SARDEAD",[PC]))
Any help on what the right syntax is?


Otherwise I'm not sure how to test the global variables in the console .... How do I check to see if
Global("SarevokBoutToDie","GLOBAL",0)
Global("SarevokBehavior","GLOBAL",3)
are true?

Also, about HP(Myself,1)... this appears that the script assumes that Sarevok will have 1 hitpoint before he dies, am I right? (a shortcut might be to set his hitpoints there in the console. How would I do that?)

Unfortunately, console can't do much about setting HP and forcing actions.
The easiest way to make Sarevok 1 HP (assuming he keeps his minimum HP belt) is to Ctrl-Y him. If he doesn't have the belt, he'll die instead of going to 1 HP.

You can check globals with the console though, with CLUAConsole:GetGlobal("<GlobalName>","GLOBAL")

Well I can second having this problem as well. I'm sitting in the temple with no exit out except clua. Basically as Parmenides said -
1)fought Sarevok - he laughed and said couldn't be hurt because he had his minions
2)killed minions (who respawned into skeleton warriors)
3)killed Sarevok, he falls down after saying I won't be denied,etc. (no stutter though)
4)stuck in temple.

BTW, I don't ever get Sarevok's last works. The OP gets that, but I don't. Also, I have no stuttering either.

I just tried that and it didn't work. I notice that the SCS (perhaps) is very particular about the dialogues. I've had to be perfect before at the palace in baldur's gate also. If one dialogue gets missed, then everything is messed up (otiluke's resilient sphere on the two grand dukes will cause their dialogues to skip).

I never used NI before so just to check I'm doing things right, I open up the file (the file automatically decompiles), I edit the line of code, then compile. Then I save. That's right?

Is there anything else you would have me try out?

Here are two things that might help me work out what is going on.

1. When Sarevok dies, what is the value of the GLOBAL variable DMWWSarevokFight ?

2. You said you can Ctrl-Y Sarevok and he just dies on you. Next time you are in a position to Ctrl-Y him, don't Ctrl-Y him but Ctrl-Q him instead. Yes, it makes him join your party. Then, when the battle music dies down, see if you can save the game, compress the saved game directory, and attach it here.

1. Throughout the fight and after death the variable is set to 2.

As a side note, some inbetween dialogue doesn't always show up. It seems to skip if I kill the first guy too fast.

edit... the buggy intermediate dialogue (not the death ending dialogue) showed up this time, so the variable was set to 4 now.

2. edit.... I Got him in my party. The funny part was that he still attacked me (with a green circle around him). I could move him back, but then he'd come after me again. It was as if my mouse was battling his movements. Basically I could move him, but then his AI would fight back. I couldn't save at that point so I Ctrl-Y killed him (while he was in my party). I consoled out and went to a temple. I resurrected him, and lo and behold, he instantly died again, gave his death speech and the endgame cutscene kicked in. The world is saved. The save is after I ressurected him. Let me know if you want a different save.


I think I'll be happy leaving BG1 and moving on to the next story of BG2. Will this save be bugged if I play on it?
