Best kits?

1. Swashbuckler: practically a perfect union between the fighter and thief, being able to place 2 slots to any thief's weapon plus three to two-weapon fighting, and the bonus +1 to damage, THAC0 and AC every 5 levels, which could get to a total +8 once you reach the 40th level, plus the bonuses already given by strength/dexterity and items. And the catch? No backstab multiplier. Pffft. Nothing you can't live without, especially when compared to the -10 points to thieving skills applied to the other thief kits.
2. Kensai: while this kit may not use armour, it's a freaking killing machine. +1 to hit and damage every 3 levels, reaching a total +13 by the 39th level, and the practically non-existent speed factor. Give him/her something like the Crom Faer, and that alone guarantees +20 to hit and 27 to damage only through the addition of strength and kit bonuses, that is not counting the bonus given by the grand mastery the fighter may achieve or the items or weapon.
3. Paladin: Who would ever give a ranged weapon to a paladin when he/she has the Carsomyr? The bonus resistance and abilities, while nothing insolite, really come in handy on more than one tight situation. It's also the kit I use the most for my main character, right with the...
4. Sorcerer: I guess it's really useful to be able to throw 4 Dragonbreaths when you need to. The only disadvantage (besides the weakneses already shown by wizards) is that you don't have such a wide array of spells, even if you have total control on how to use your limited spellbook. And then you equip this character with the Robe Of Vecna...
So, any other faves, any comments?

Also the Archer can be very nasty as well
And Undead Hunter is great for killing vamps and other undead as you are immune to just about everything they throw at you

This is also trifle cheap, but I do like the Blade. Not quite the Fighter/Mage power combo, but still very fun in terms of gameplay, especially when you hit the higher levels. I would say then that it almost equals if not outclasses the Fighter/Mage combo when you consider all the lovely little HLAs such as Spike and Time Trap .
Edit: Having played with Keldorn in my party briefly, I'd also like to throw in a good word about the Inquisitor, although I haven't actually played with an Inquisitor as my PC yet (something I plan to rectify). The Dispel Magic is incredible, and the True Sight is very handy, and hey... Carsomyr...

Personally, I think Inquisitor beats Paladin in general.
Just my view - I haven't yet found Undead Hunter capable of anything a Paladin with the right spell / equipment can't do.
Similarly, I think with the right equipment and spells anyone can replicate the Magic Resistance of a Wizard Slayer.
I also like Kensai / Mage combinations, though pure Kensai isn't quite on my radar just yet. Just like the Archer, beyond a certain point in the game (about level 13-14) they're just numbers. You still hit everything you should hit, except for Critical Misses.
I really ought to try out Blade or Swashbuckler sometime.
BUT that being said, with Hidden Kits I'd probably go for Spell Steel (FM) or Shadow Blade (FT) much better.
And if you add Options to reduce the XP Penalty...
Edit : I forgot my all time favourite - REAVER (Mage dualled to Thief with Fighter Thac0, insane Stats, Druid and Cleric spells) ! Yeah I know its cheating...

Fighter/Mage: Combination of these two classes can make PC really strong if skills are used appropriately
Cleric: Seriously, even when everyone's dead, as long as Bhaalspawn is alive and he/she is cleric, than everyone can be resurrected!
Sorcerer: So powerful especially towards the end of the game
Assassin: Backstabbing x7!
Kensai: Do we need sarevok?

If I'm not playing as a fighter-type I use Shadow Keeper to rurn Minsc into a Beserker.
I haven't ever tried Kensai or Kensai-Mage. But as I've said elsewhere, we need a mod kit for a Berserker-Sorcerer!
See, it helps not to believe all the stuff that philosophers spout.

You needn't do that anymore. If I'm not playing as a fighter-type I use Shadow Keeper to rurn Minsc into a Beserker.
Gods help us if that ever occurs. 3e ruleset, anyone?I haven't ever tried Kensai or Kensai-Mage. But as I've said elsewhere, we need a mod kit for a Berserker-Sorcerer!

Oh, squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye? Oh, squiggly line, it's alright, you are forgiven.
