Hello all,

What's the best way to give a character innate abilities in BG2?

I've had problems doing it with ShadowKeeper, as some of the innates don't show under the Special Abilities tab ingame when I assign them, so I can't use them.

I then copied some wizard spell files but changed the type to Innate, but when I tried to assign them as innates again they failed to appear ingame.

So, what am I doing wrong or what would be a better way to do it? I can email people the files if they'd like.

Thanks!

What abilities in particular are we looking at?

how come you always look so damn cool in every photo I see you in?!?

Speaking of modding, I listened to IER 3 yesterday, so you can have another quote for your signature: how come you sound so damn cool, as well as look it? It's unfair. Seriously.

Well, thet have the suffix SPR dont they? It might depend on what kit you are trying to add them to. Have u looked at Sims scripting guide at all?

.SPL suffix.

I'm trying to add them to a particular NPC, as opposed to a class. When doing it with ShadowKeeper they add fine on the SK screen but aren't there in game.

Someone on the FWP forums has suggested I need to use IEEP to change a box and make them visible, so I'll see if that's it later (on a different PC atm).

Soz, I mean the beginning letters of the spells. Also, what does he mean by 'make visible?'

My spell files have to start SPR?

By make visible I mean there's some box I need to check to make the innate spells appear in the Special Abilities tab, bottom right of the game screen.

No you can name your spell whatever you want as long as it is eight letters or less +.spl for the extension

BLASTEM.spl

but Bioware typically has spells defined as

SPPRXXX - Spell Priest
SPWIXXX - Spell Wizard
SPCLXXX - Class Spell
SPINXXX - Innate Spell

If you want it to show up in the innate slots, you need to make sure it is set to Innate in the place where it wants to know what type of spell it is (I don't mean SPINXXX, I mean Innate, just to try to be clear).

All sorted.

Turns out in IEEP I needed to set the Found In field to Innate for every extension header- some have more than one, and failing to do that means it didn't show.

Thanks for the help!

Feel free to take a look at my other threads asking for help too..... :P B)
