Mmm... I think such wave patterns in sand are more a desert and underwater thing; on beaches, the waves and tides wear them down faster than they form.
Of course, if that's a riverbank... .p

Coming from a country with a lot of water and a lot of sand beaches I walk upon there are waves. As Liam also shows. Actually the shells are unnatural. Normally they pile up in a row at the utmost point the ocean/sea reaches at high tide. They are not so spread out in normal life.
Last picture looks a bit like a marsh. Very wet land, but still dry enough to walk upon without immediatly sinking into the water
