After install I get this error upon trying to load BGII.

"An Assertion failed in ChSound.cpp at line number 4905"

Checking the PDF and searching on the forums here shows me that SONGLIST.2DA can't have more than 100 entries. Here is my SONGLIST.2DA. Which entries should I remove?

Can I remove one of the two duplicate "MxLeina MxLeina.mus" entries? Why are there two entries towards the bottom that both point to j#blank.mus? Even if I removed those two, I'd need to remove a third. The list can only go from 0-99. Suggestions?

Ahh yes...the good old songlist 2DA.

I would remove lines
100 MYMUSIC j#blank.mus
101 KSONG j#blank.mus
102 Kiara MxKiara.mus

and make sure your cursor is just past the line
99 MxElle MxElle.mus
and just after the s of mus
and save.

Unfortunately you will not have music for Kiara's romance after that.

As far as the duplicate entries of mxLeina.mus, you can replace the line 85 one with the mxKiara.mus (@ line 102). Then edit KIARA.BCS and look for PlaySong() and the number in () will be 102. Change all of those to 85.

Have fun!!

Thanks. I will have to live with some missing music in one mod over not being able to load the game at all.

I have them error so I want to try the same solution. The only thing is which SONGLIST.2DA should I edit? There are 41 in all directories but not one in the main "C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA" directory. (and more then one has more them 100 lines
In another forum page some one said that it should be the "BGII installation drectory" but which directory is that?
-..\BGII - SoA\BiG World Clean Install\Override
-..\BGII - SoA\BGT\Songlist\Hybrid
-..BGII - SoA\BGT\Songlist\Full
-other?

Yes, the right songlist.2da is in the ...\BGII - SoA\override\ -folder unless it's biffed, and if it is, you need a Infinity Engine Editor tool to edit it, the best one would most likely be the NearInfinity, and if you don't have it yet, I have posted the install instructions in here(answer #11).

Of course you should avoid the problem by installing the setup-BGTmusic.exe after you have installed all the NPCs etc mod that add musics to the list so the mod includes them too.
