An idea I had recently, this type of mod would enable <CHARNAME> to face off against the likes of Drizzt, Khelben, Elminster, Fzoul Chembryl, the Seven Sisters, and other prolific NPCs in the Forgotten Realms Universe. I've thought of having it in a tournament style or a big battle royale where you fight them all at once. Thoughts anyone?

Sounds like an interesting idea (although I'm not very familiar with said legends and their powerlevels). Would it include a quest/story or just be an excuse to fight really powerful guys for bragging rights? (Not that there's necessarly anything wrong with that ;))

Mostly for bragging rights. I think it would be extremely difficult to write a story to fit into the overall plot.

Legends (levels given are approximate and off the top of my head):
-Elminster: 35 mage
-Drizzt: 16 ranger
-Fzoul (high priest of Bane/Xvim, leader of Zhentarim): 21 cleric
-The Simbul (one of the 7 sisters and Elminster's lover): 30 sorcerer
-Alustriel (one of the 7 sisters): 30 mage
-Khelben (mage of Waterdeep): 32 mage
-Manshoon (high Zhent official with many clones): 25 mage

Most of them are very easy for a player to defeat. Particularly Drizzt. :devil:

Otherwise, nice idea. I would help code. :P

A bit off topic, but you seem to know your FR heroes and villians rather well. Tell me, do you not think Rinda would make a very interesting joinable NPC? It would be plausable enough to kill off that stupid paladin who follows her around all the time. Finally, someone to chronicle <CHARNAME>'s adventures!

I always thought it should have more pit fights.

Most of them are very easy for a player to defeat. Particularly Drizzt

Thats only if they use the default AI the game gave them. Some of the mods have lvl 10 characters that my lvl 20 took a while to beat!

Edit: Google is such a useful tool. . . Imagine fighting this guy

Well, with SCSII, I have (barely) managed to take down a level 25 Lich at level 14. It was painful, and I used up everything I had, but I beat it.

Compared to SCSII Liches, Rangers are easy!

Elminster - he certainly deserves to die
Drizzt - ditto, dead each time I play BG
The Simbul - anyone who associate themselves with Elminster deserves to die as well
Alustriel - a pity drow didn't manage to kill her, I'd be so happy about that

Suggestion; instead of combating the actual historical figures, why not enter into a dungeon owned by a mad and powerful wizard, who has perfected the ability to create almost completely accurate simulacrums of people?

That's a legitimate excuse for fighting such people--but without something like that, it would be kind of... weird. :)

Irenicus seems the perfect candidate. Why not add a portal somewhere in his dungeon which would take you to a new layer where all this happens.

Or maybe some mad illusionist mage in spellhold who bhodi let loose after you could be behind it.

I think a major problem with this would be that most people are at a fairly low level when in Irenicus Dungeon. I'd rather not confront Elminster & Co. with a party consisting of a couple of level nine characters or so.

Also, pretty much everything Irenicus is doing seems connected to his plan to regain his soul and eventually attack the Tree of Life again. Or possibly to his love-life. I don't really see him creating really powerful look-alikes for no reason.

Personally I'd rather see someone completely disconnected from the plot, perhaps in ToB--but that might just be me. :)

I'm not familiar with that particular NPC. All of the NPCs I've listed (and many more) I got from my FR Campaign Setting (3rd ed.) I'd have to take another look.

To fit it into the main plot seems to be very difficult. But it just occured to me there could be a legitimate way of doing this without ruining the plot. I think a dream sequence late in ToB might be appropriate. It would end up just being a fantasy of <CHARNAME>.

I'm going to go ahead, and show off my knowledge of the Forgotten Realms (acquired thanks to my Forgotten Realms Campaign book, I'm such a geek! :D ). Actually, you're not exactly correct...
* Elmister is a Fighter1/Rogue2/Cleric3/Wizard20/Archmage5/EpicCharacter4. (Not just a simple mage, eh? ;)
* Drizzt is a Fighter10/Barbarian1/Ranger5
* Fzoul is a Cleric17/Hierophant2
* The Simbul is a Sorcerer20/Archmage2/Wizard10
* Alustriel is a Wizard20/Sorcerer2/Archmage2
* Khelben Blackstaff is a Wizard20/Archmage3/EpicCharacter4
* Manshoon is a Wizard20/Archmage2/EpicCharacter3

My point? Well, I think that it would be extremely hard to compute in all the different classes, feats, custom spells, skills, and so on, of these various Legends of the Forgotten Realms into the BG2 Infinity Engine. You wouldn't be truly fighting Elminster, Alustriel or Fzoul anymore, just a shadow of said Legend.
And how on Earth would you fit fighting one or any of these Legends in the BG2 plot?? From a roleplaying point of view, it doesn't really make much sense to me, I guess.
I like K'aeloree's suggestion of fighting simulacrums of them, though!

Edited because off premature posting... :P

Those are 3E stats and thus irrelevant. These characters should be old enough to have proper AD&D stats, which are actually compatible with the BG2 engine. WotC offers the "villain's lorebook" as a free download; the goodie-goodies version can probably be found for like $5 online, or less.

The real problem is converting any custom spells the casters might have, since they may well need effects that would be impossible to duplicate using the infinity engine.

my point /.../ it would be extremely hard to compute in all the different classes, feats, custom spells, skills, and so on

And my point is that most of these are taken care of by using the proper 2E stats, as opposed to trying to convert the 3E ones. <_<
