Mods do not seem to be activated

Hi All,

I followed the BWP pdf file to make a mega-mod installation. Everything was automated and I did not receive an error through the process. After starting the BGT game I reinstalled setup xp-mod and changed the values to 75% and installed worldmap on top of it when I received an error in the game. Then I reverted back to reduce to %50 using setup xp-mod again and I had to install worldmap again.

Everything seemed to work fine but the problem is some people are telling me that I had to speak to an elf in friendly arms in to start the dark side of the sword coast.

I had no such encounter.

Also stone of askavar is installed but I did not come across any black gauntlet people nor cearwin in the nashkel carnival.

I gave myself the letter by shadow keeper and summoned cearwin from the cluaconsole but now the spider cavern in the nashkel pass area does not have a door on it?

I have dystra's tower and bluebell wood but no quest. I also went to torquion and did its quest but I did not get the quest from anyone.

What do you think may b the problem. I am ofcourse having extra trouble because I never played the BG1 vanilla game, although I played BG2 ad ToB countless many times. So I am a little bit confused.


P.S. Can you also suggest me an xp reduction 50% or 75% because I did not install millions of mods but I installed the big ones and I cannot be sure which one to use?

In which chapter are you? DSotSC and TSoA starts in a special chapter only. So you can't meet the persons in an earlier chapter.

And with all the big BG mods you have installed 50% XP reduction is fine.

A Megamod does not mean that you can play all of the mods or all of their content,
but you have more choices or paths through the game.

Well, after handling the Cloakwood Mines, I saw Pelltar in the temple of Lathender and went through Secret of Bonehill fine,

Then I went to friendly arms inn and talked to Jet"something, accepted her into the party and watched the DSotSC intro.

The problems I am facing are

1. The stone of Askavar is still not active, I cannot proceed into the spider caves in Nashkell Pass, yet when I talked to Jet wood of sharp teeth opened up.
2. But now I cannot go to the Forest of Forgotten Souls, thus start DSotSC.

What troubles me is that, even if I cannot find Cearwin, I was able to find 2 of the talismans. because Bluebell Woods and the Dystra's Watch Tower was open when there was not an apparent quest in sight. But DSotSC maps does not open even though Wood of Sharp Teeth did open up.

Also for example I never went to Larswood, is it a mod area or a vanilla area. I think that if it is a vanilla area, I should have at least passed through it once???

I suspect that there is something wrong with my worldmap.

Yes, your two reinstallations could have broken something. If you can't solve the problems or no one can help you, then the best would be if you make a clean installation (click me) and use the BiG World Setup for your new installation.

Yes, your two reinstallations could have broken something. If you can't solve the problems or no one can help you, then the best would be if you make a clean installation (click me) and use the BiG World Setup for your new installation.

I think I will do a clean install using big world setup, but I have a question. I presume that I will have to restart the game. And I have gone far. And I must admit that the vanilla parts of BG1 are extremely boring with huge maps with random "canine_kind" encounters so I really do not want to go through all that again. Is there a way to start from chapter 6 or 5 (the chapter which starts after cleaning cloakwood mines).

Not on the normal way.

Wait before you reinstall. I wasn't sure if Stone of Askavar was working or not either. On my last install the new areas could be accessed before you even started the plot. Now I think the doors only open up after the mod starts (I hope so...or else it didn't install).

1)The mod did not start until the cloakwood mines were finished - Chapter 6 (it used to be chapter 5 but some mod is speeding upthe chapters by one).

2)Go to Nashkel Pass (after cloakwood finished). You should be attacked by goons around the middle of the map "on the road". Pick up the letter they drop.

3)Find Cearwin at the fair. He is to the right side of the theatre near the tents on the bottom of the map.

4)Then you have to wait until you get to the tavern in BG (Blushing Mermaid) to talk to another dude to continue with the mod.

You could reload to an earlier save and try this out first. Good luck!

Also the same goes for the DSOTSC and Jetlaya (the elf) - you have to finish the cloakwood mines first, then find her standing in front of the drawbridge at the Friendly Arm Inn. You go to the forest map, then there is another not named map, then the last forest map where her sister is. You can only get there by following map1, map2, then map3 in order.

That's actually the BGT, as it records the Candlekeep being chapter 1, not Tutorial/prelude.

Stone of Askavar may work like that, but for the DSotSC after I speak with Jet, the only map that opens is the Wood of Sharp Teeth, is that the one of the forest maps you are talking about?

Well, if my memory serves me right, the actual areas are do east from the Wood of Sharp Teeth, as that area is from the original BG1 areas, but burring the dialog the area map is patched so you can exit from the east and reach those areas.

Yep, its start at Wood of the Sharp Teeth (then exit to the right side), then an unnamed map (exit to the north), then Forest of the Forgotten Souls (for Jet's quest).
