Hello all:

I need some help. A have another bug or I messed up installing this mega game. The WeiDU log follows.

I am at Basilisk Monument (I wish the name changing would stop). I have a Paladin (main character) with the Signet Ring of the Sukien. In the past, when activated, it prevented my Paladin from getting petrified by basilisks. Well, the ring may still do that, but the basilisks no longer petrify you directly.

Now the basilisks cast STUN which also removes almost all your hit points on the first attack. Needless to say that once you are STUNNED, it only takes one more attack to kill you. I tried using a magician to kill off the basilisks with spells. When the magician got "hit", it she also had the STUN symbol. However, since she was not the main character, I found out that you needed a Stone to Flesh spell to recover her. So now I have basilisks that appear to cast STUN, but are actually petrifying you. The Signet Ring of the Sukien does not protect you from STUN.

Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know how to fix this?

Here is my WeiDU Log for this game.

~TB#TWEAKS/TB#TWEAKS.TP2~ #0 #200 // Flesh to Stone Fix. (v2.10)

That's how this component works. If you bothered to read the documentation, you'd have installed it (along with the other tweak mods) as one of the last mods (rather than in the middle like you did), and in that case the Ring would correctly prevent you from being petrified.

Thank you for your quick response. I did bother to read the documentation. At my age, which is probably three times yours, I sometimes forget things that were read. What is missing is a general flow chart that shows where to place files when creating a BGT WeiDU Mega Mod.

I guess I will need to create a new game and put things in their proper order after a more careful reading of the documentation. I will admit that your comments in your documentation about your mod are fairly concise and give all information. Some others are not as detailed.

Ouh, but there is, a link to several of them, and more info than you wish to know.

The BiG World guide is probably the best option for you, tomkaz.

Hi all:

I do not get much time to scan through Spellhold Studios and others. In addition, I consider myself a relative new comer to playing mega mod games so I do not have much of the early information. But, I have always received a lot of quality help whenever I have posted a question and I really appreciate that.

I have been through a programming phase in the early days of Apples and PCs. From there I went into Quality Control which sometimes gives me a unique view of computer projects.

I realize the effort that goes into creating mods. It is a lot of work. However, it is a lot more work because of lack of structure. I do not mean that in a negative way. What I am trying to convey is that when writing a mod, you need to ensure compatibility with other mods that may be already written or are in the process of being written. So the fact that so many mods exist and work together is impressive.

I consider all mods to be BETA releases. Why? Because it is impossible to create and test all possible combinations of mods. So I expect there will be problems from time to time.

Again, I want to thank all modders for taking the effort to write these additions to BG I, TotSC, SoA, ToB and the others.

Well it looks like I have a lot of reading to do. That will be my after 9 PM chore.

Tom
