I was finally exploring Lonely Peaks, and I noticed that Hulrik and Arabelle are now missing from the area? (All the other NPC's like Sarhedra and Arghain are there).

Since I am playing with a few mods, I'm not sure if it is BGT that has removed them or another mod.

Is this possibly a bug, or is one of those mod's deleting them?

If you go there after Chapter 4 begins and Mulahey is dead, they will not spawn.

Yes, what erebusant says is right.

I can't recall if this is the original behaviour for the vanilla BG game though or if it was changed by BGT (in that case, why?)

OK IIRC that is not in the case in the original. I pretty much follow a set path on what areas I explore when playing BG, and they have always been there.

Not a huge deal, but odd if that was changed?

I think it was because the kobolds would no longer be around once the Nashkel mines have been taken care of. I can't remember if there was some inconsistent dialogue - a 'bad' journal entry springs to mind. Sorry, I don't have time at the moment to really have a look.

Actually they are attacked by Xvarts. Perhaps killing the village, that then removes the encounter?

Not a huge deal, just I don't remember that happening in vanilla BG(?). I was just wondering.

Yes, but an Xfarts race and class are KOBOLD and KOBOLD_XVART respectively.

Personal opinion: that encounter should never be removed.

Hulrik's dialogue and journal entries become inconsistent if you saved him after clearing Nashkel mines, so that is why the encounter is removed after Mulahey is killed.
