Thanks Yovaneth. As with most games I will not be installing mods for my first few playthroughs. What's the general concensus on DLCs (on PC, that is)?

So far, the DA DLC's have been quite good. Stone Prisoner and Warden's Keep are particularly good stuff. Definitely no reason to -not- install them on your first playthrough either.

I'll second Qwinn on that matter, particularly for the Stone Prisoner DLC, definitely worth it. And if you loved HK-47 in KotOR, you'll definitely enjoy Shale.

Totally, yes. If you can get your hands on the Warden's Keep and Stone Prisoner, they are worth it. Shale is one of the best NPCs out there, with a very good quest(two quests, in fact - the quest to get Shale and the quest in the dwarven ruins). And the story of the Warden's Keep mirrors the crucial choices you'll have to make closer to the game's ending. I don't want to spoil, but it shows what happens if you give Wardens power - or try to take it away.

Extra items DLC - not so good, though. For me, they destroy the game balance - when you begin the game with one of the best armors, daggers, helmets, a couple of extra tomes and a ring with +1 to all attributes, it's kind of too much.

Very late joiner I know but I have to say this! OMG I am in love with this game too<333 Best rpg since BG2. Actually worthwhile playing! How long have I been waiting for something like this?! I would marry this game too but I am already married to BG2... =p what a shame...

I know this is off-topic, but while I adore Alistiar to bits, I have to admit I had crush on Ser Gilmore(I think that was his name) during that short origin story lol. I feel pathetic >.<

Don't feel pathetic. I fell in love with Ser Gilmore at first sight (went Noble rogue on first run). In fact, I even wrote a tiny one-shot of what would have happened to by noble PC had she had an affair with him. *sigh* I think it's those dreamy eyes and that red lock of hair... (okay, I *do* feel a little pathetic, but what the hey... ;) )

lol I did something similar too. I was so sad when I couldn't persuade Ser Gilmore to come with me :( I came up with an idea, *if* Alistair ever asks my PC if she's been in love, she confides that she was indeed in love with her close knight (Ser Gilmore) whom she have lost during the tragedy when she lost her whole family. And say something like that she doesn't want to let die her loved ones anymore for her sake and if there's ever another tragedy, she will rather sacrifise herself this time. Hence, I am thinking of making my PC sacrifies herself to Archdemon, rather than sending Alistair, or maybe take Morrigan's offer (I HATE THE IDEA, but thats the only way to get any happy ending with Alistair. I HATE YOU BIOWARE *cry*)

SNIP

I HATE YOU BIOWARE *cry*)

That's their version of dark and gritty: they sometimes only give you options that have the ability to make you miserable at key moments in the game.

Isn't it possible to have "SECRET COMPANION" sacrifice himself instead of either you or Alistair? Maybe that's a way to get a good ending. Heck, I think you can have "SECRET COMPANION" be the one to agree to Morrigan's deal, too, so he'd even get to live.

Or wait, yeah, letting him live makes Alistair mad, never mind.

I'm guessing you are talking about
Spoiler
? From what I understand, if you let him live, Alistair dies...

Edit: Please use {Spoiler} tags if you're going to use that name.
