Seriously, you shouldn't be / feel ashamed if people are ragging on you about whether or not Jaheira wears bikini chainmail. It's your art, you can draw them however you damn well want!

And this is coming from someone who regularly writes detailed sex scenes about computer game characters, so I should know something about feeling ashamed . So far, no one's really bitched at me for suggesting that Nalia and Viconia had a one-night stand [and etc., and etc., and etc.]

I haven't seen the pictures that are being debated here, but they can't be worse than some of the blood n' gory scenes in my Bhaalspawn comic, or?
And besides, there are tons of naked barbarian hunks running around in the fantasy realm's as well, but yes I know that there is a common pattern that the female characters often are very light dressed. It is all about taste and artistic freedom.

One could always have an age recommendation or some warnings written down, hmmm when I think about it that is what I should have used for the Bhaalspawn comic as well (There are some heads being chopped in it and that is far worse than some light clothed females).

It's not the case of "worse/better than chopped heads". If i can put the problem into very simple words (not because i think you wouldn't understand complicated, but because i think it would help), it's about some of us females being, yes, somewhat offended - like Cal said, a naked warrioress simply isn't going to work, so either she's extremely stupid, or just a source of drooling and nothing more, a thing devoid of any non-sexual sense and existence. And if you're really treated like that, it unnerves. I know i am. I had to change my work place a couple of times this year because of sexual harrassment.

But, much more importantly, to my mind, it's just really sad to see you amazing artists waste your talents on repeating not very wise stereotypes. Sure, you can draw whatever you like, which is why i'm only making somewhat mild comments and not demanding the post to be cancelled as offensive. (The artist did it himself). But i can't draw worth a damn, so no matter how much i'd want i just can't answer with pictures of humiliatingly sexualized men, or any men for that matter. It's like seeing people having this amazing money and wasting it on cheap, environment-unfriendly and tasteless houses.

This has two advantages. First, it makes opponents think they are vulnerable and they strike well protected spots. Second, was we well know all males (not just humans) in fantasy games are hot for human women. This makes them distracted when fighting women wearing this highly prized magical armor. A distracted opponent is much easier to defeat.

I think you're right. The pics should be back around, first because the discussion is strange without them, second because they showed quite a lot of skill, and third, this changes everything!

I wonder where could i get a set of that illusory armour? The next time some sleazy boss tried to grope my bottom, he would hurt his hand!

I expressed myself in a sloppy way writing that "There are some heads being chopped in it and that is far worse than some light clothed female." Of course it is not about worse or better. I can surely understand that some pictures can be offended to people that has been sexually harrased by some f...ing a..hole at work. That puts the whole thing into another perspective. But the art; drawing, standup comedy,movies, theatre and the likes would be really limited in their expression if they had to exclude content because of such things.

Yet again I should not say/write too much since I haven't seen the pictures.

I think that artistic expression is pretty much the most important thing to the human race. After all, if we can't express ourselves some way, we'll like, go crazy and explode or something. So anyways, artistic expression shouldn't be undermined or censored. Besides, it's not like scantily clad females are exactly new to the fantasy world. I don't know about the other girls here, but I've gotten used to it. And if too much is showing, well, just post a warning so little kids won't see it or anything.

The pictures should be reposted. ...I'm not afraid to admit, I'm curious and want to see them. Even if they are scantily clad, I'd love to see a reimagining of some of the BG ladies in 3-D. Besides, I'm guilty of drawing women in erm...minimal outfits, too, and I'm a chick!

I agree to that (if the artist wants to repost them) then it should be done. I must underline the importance of artistic freedom or we might as well end up under a dictatorship. It could be wise to have some structure at the forum that shows a warning before entering a post that includes nudity and violence. But still the forum should be free to have its own rules on what can be published and that should also be explained well.

There are websites that specialize themselves on erotic artwork and horror (blood n' gore) and so on. So there are places for everything...When it comes to fantasy then there should be no limits at all in my mind, but an age limit if it is too violent or erotic. Of course if you combine those two in the same scene then there is a question if it should be posted at all. Easily spoken, pornographic and racist content should be deleted. As mentioned above there are other places for the pornographic stuff, the racist stuff should not be allowed anywhere since that is agitation against an ethnic group.

Phew, this is a hard subject to debate especially for me since I lack the skill to express myself in the english language and can therefore easily be miss- understood.

He can repost the pics if he wants - it's not like they're pornographic and it was my intention that he take them down. I'm not a prude - nudity is fine in certain contexts, as is erotica. It's just the tired old cliche of chicks in chainmail bikinis that rankles. (I remember back when I played Ultima Online, I spent quite some time looking for female warrior fantasy art for a forum signature picture of my fierce female army commander - but could find absolutely nothing suitable because it was all boobs and wild blonde hair. I ended up going with a a headshot).

I'll state it right now that I do not equate nudity, partial nudity, light clothing, etc, as pornographic stuff or something that should strictly be kept under wraps
