Haven't tried any paralyzation runes on them, but the spells seem to work OK. I've had no luck using Crushing Prison on them, though. Casting it on a boss even seems to negate paralyzation.

I noticed that boss abomination-like(demon-like, shadow-like) creatures do not die from Mana Clash. In Origins, Mage Tower is a cakewalk with Mana Clash; here it only seems to kill non-boss demons and mages.

So, I think that mages are useful(a Fireball, followed by a Virulent Walking Bomb, followed by a single-target spell in the right spot does wonders), but two mages - probably not as much. I'm not going to take Velanna and Anders together.

I, um, think there's a bug with one companion. Or, if it's not a bug, it could be that I misunderstand something. Anyway, if you completed this companion's quest:

Justice starts with Neutral. He has 100 approval, however. He is a spirit of the Fade, and now in the body of a Grey Warden. Now that this Warden is dead, his wife is very distressed, and Justice asks to find her, to help her somehow. After this is done, Justice says that he envies what this Warden and his wife had. His quest is done. But! His approval remains at 100, but his state switches from Neutral to Love. Maker help me! And if my char was a male? I'd be seriously creeped out. I mean, he may be a great companion and a benevolent spirit, but he is still a guy in a rotting body!

Dunno. Tried mana clash on boss demon Gazza-whatever, and it did zip, but I don't remember mana clash working on demons before, either. Maybe once I've encountered more bosses, I'll be able to say for sure. It works well enough on Elite ranks, though. Or at least it seems to. Once, the guy only went down by about 50%, but he'd just cast a ton of spells, so it's possible that he'd burned through a ton of his mana already.
