Hi the bigg!

The first thing regrds thief kits and usability of scrolls. In my BGT games I noticed that my thieves (the BG1 creature versions) are able to use scrolls. I know that Refinements changes usabilities for the later HLA's but was wondering if it would be possible to write the trueres kit to thieves in their BG1 flavors if I understand correctly what is being done. I just edit them in game by adding a script to their BCS's sort of like how you do it with the BALDUR.BCS.

The second thing is Phoenix guards from BG1 in Durlag's tower explode on creation. I have found that it is due to their vanilla DEX being 3, so with a Plate Mail reducing DEX -5 or something, well you know what happens ;).

Check the Bodies uses its versions of Phoenix Guards as well in a semi-duplicated Durlag's Tower but I changed the creatures to have greater DEX in version 1.12a to accommodate if Refinements is installed after. Should I make a request to Ascension64 to change them for BGT or would you be willing to add two or three edited creatures with a BGT check in the TP2?

Affected creatures are:

PHOENIX

PHEOARCH

PHEOGURD

Which thieves? Baldur.bcs should already contain a block to switch kits TRUECLASS -> trueres for Player1..6.

Sure, it's easy enough to increase everybody's dexterity to a minimum.

Indeed the BALDUR.BCS has the TRUECLASS -> trueres but all thieves like Safana, Coran, Tiax, Alora, Mur'neth after looking at them in my save games and original creature files they constantly say NO_KIT-0 for the kit placement. When I start BG1 game as a thief of any class type, it changes fine to the trueres. BG2 thieves like Fade are fine and can't cast from scrolls until they get the appropriate HLA.

Does NO_KIT-0 read the same or supposed to as TRUECLASS in the KIT.IDS?

Maybe it's more kit.ids bullshit?

bullshit being an understatement these days with KIT.IDS

Anywho I have these type of blocks like you explained

IF
	Kit(Player1,TRUECLASS)
	OR(3)
		Class(Player1,THIEF)
		Class(Player1,CLERIC_THIEF)
		Class(Player1,FIGHTER_THIEF)
THEN
	RESPONSE #100
		ActionOverride(Player1,AddKit(trueres))
END

But they still say NO-KIT-0 in saves. Now I added a workaround myself to thieves scripts doing this.

Ex. for Safana.BCS

IF
        Global("ENDOFBG1","GLOBAL",0)
	Global("#HTHFBG1","LOCALS",0)
THEN
	RESPONSE #100
		ActionOverride(Myself,AddKit(trueres))
		SetGlobal("#HTHFBG1","LOCALS",1)
END

Everything works fine and they magically change to the trueres successfully. So I don;t know why the change to trueres works here but no in the BALDUR.BCS. The rest of the changes like truerestF and the like are happening fine for HLA. Funk if I know

NO KIT is different from TRUECLASS, so script blocks designed for TRUECLASS won't run if the creature has NO KIT. The BG1 versions of Imoen, Safana etc. should have TRUECLASS as a kit, or you might risk other mods being similarly broken (NO KIT is a straight coding error, not a compatibility issue).

OK that makes more sense. I will try and find out what went wrong on another end. Maybe some BG1 creature tweaks or something.

Thanks for taking the Phoenix guard thing into consideration. It was making me crazy for a while.
