If it's that frustrating, enable cheats just long enough to get out? There's a difference between "challenging" and "stupid cheap."

This might be a stupid question, but if I install Dungeon Be Gone after everything else just as a last resort, does it completely overwrite any changes that Tactics put in Chateau Irenicus? Because I fought Ilyich expecting to get slapped around and I chunked him. Doesn't seem right.

Well, I ended up re-installing, which I didn't need to do. But I'm up and running again. Are plain sorcerors as powerful in a BWP Tactical game as they are in the vanilla game? And do the mage spells get mostly improved or weakened by the overhaul mods? Thanks.

Do any mods in BWS drastically alter the mage spells? Thank you.

Depends, what's drastic? The "Spell Revision", the "Lost Crossroads Spell Pack", the "Spell-50" and SCS'es all do, to some decree ... "Improved Summons" do too, among others.
And Divine Remix.

As in, makes a formerly good spell much weaker or worthless.

Not worthless (IIRC), but SR nerfs some spells and buffs others (first examples that come to mind, W3 Skull Trap is capped to 12d6 damage, and W8 Pierce Shield now acts as W7 Ruby Ray + W5 Breach).

In any event, if you install BGT tactical (to an extent, even BGT Recommended) any sense of balance goes the way of the dodo (both in terms of player nerfs, player buffs, and enemy buffs).

I see. I guess I can just try to go by an old gamefaqs guide on spells and see what happens. Is the true grandmastery fix in BWS and does it affect BG1? Thanks.
