Hi Everyone,

I followed the installation instructions here: http://thunderpeel20...lly-modded.html

exactly, but I am experience some minor graphical problems that I don't know how to fix. TNO and Morte both walk towards the point I have clicked, but often the sprite does not turn properly, so they seem to be waling "or in Morte's case, floating) backwards.

Also, the Fog Of War edges are blocky. Can anyone share some ideas for how to address these issues? I know they're minor but I am also worried that bigger problems will come up later, forcing me to change settings and restart my game. Thank you very much for your time!

...

What video card do you have ?
Did you read this at all, and did you install the nVidia fix...

My card is a GeForce 7100/ nForce 630i. I did read that post but I wasn't sure the problems it referred to were the kind I was having. I will try installing the Nvidia fix though. Thank you!

I ran the nvidia fix, but that did not get rid of black Fog Of War boxes, and I still have the problem with TNO, Morte, and all other sprites that walk backwards when instructed to move to the righthand side of the screen. It's like the righthand walk animations are missing or not recognized. Does anyone have more ideas? I don't think it's a problem with DDraw because I don't have stuttering; I am not sure what artifacts are.

I tried running PS:T with D3D windower using Ghostdog's recommended settings, the result:

Game does not run windowed
Black box FoW still there
Sprites still show left-moving animation when the move to the right side of the screen

Sorry to be a pest, but I'm not very savvy about this stuff so I really could use more help. I appreciate it!

Open the Torment.ini file that's in the game folder and make sure it has this:
[Program Options]
Tooltips=0
Sprite Mirror=1
The Sprite Mirroring should mirror the action and so set the walking animation to the right direction.
And in the same section you should have these:
Translucent Shadows=1
SoftSrcKeyBltFast=0
SoftBltFast=0
SoftSrcKeyBlt=0
SoftBlt=0
SoftMirrorBlt=0
That should set your Fog of War like it's supposed to be.

In my Torment.ini file, the program options are already set that way. I got this copy from GOG, so I installed in Program Files and cannot edit the torment.ini anyway. Any other ideas?

I've added a new solution in the d3dwidower thread proposed by nug and Erik. Have a look.

Great news: the compatibility fix (forcing DDraw emulation) worked! However, it introduced the cursor trail problem, but I know you've already worked out a fix for that, so I will try it. Thank you so much Jarno and Ghostdog! You were extremely clear and helpful. I wanted to try to work everything out so I do not get far in the game and then encounter a glitch which would force a restart, so I am still a little concerned that spell effects will not work properly.

Running PST through the Compatibility Administrator fixes the Fog of War and sprite mirroring issue, but did introduce the cursor trail. The cursor trail fix did what you predicted, though it can be hard for me to find the cursor sometimes due to the size of the crosshair. Thanks, guys!

My native monitor resolution is 1600 by 900, and PS:T seems to run fine. However, I played the game when it originally came out, and all screens are slightly smaller, but there is art outside of them that I would guess the UI designer (Ghostdog?) created. The character stats, inventory, and journal screens do not fill my screen to the borders. Indeed, with character stats and inventory open, I can see most of the playmap (but play does remain paused). Is this normal?

The original PST resolution was 640x480. Increasing the resolution in IE games doesn't work like in fully 3d games, it just gives you a wider view of the area, showing you more stuff. On the other hand the most UI windows remained in their original size, that's why they don't fill the screen. It is normal.
