Hi,

Thanks to SCS, I can let Quayle join my party at the Nashkel Carnival. He is Cleric 2 / Illusionnist 2, but he only has two spell slots in his mage spellbook. He should get three spell slots in his mage spellbook at that level.

Ah, but the Cleric/Illusionist that all the gnome Cleric/Wizards are, should have 3 level 1 mage spells at level 2, 2 from the level and 1 from the 'kit'.

Yes, since he is a specialist wizard (illusionnist), he should get one more spell slot. So three mage spell slots at level 2.

AFAIK that's not how it works. Gnomes can only be Illusionists, so if they're single class mage they are automatically Illusionists and get the extra spell slot for a specialist. If they multi class as a mage, they must also be an Illusionist, but it's not "counted" as a specialist mage (as you can't kit a multi class) and you only get the downside of being an Illusionist.

EDIT:
I might be wrong though.. and the Gnome should actually get that extra spell slot. This change of heart brought to you by Googled forum-threads like "Gnome F/Ill = OP".

You're wrong, Dakk. Try creating your own multiclassed illusionnist gnome and you'll notice that he will get one more spell slot than a non-gnome multiclassed wizard. And Quayle, when he levels up to Illusionnist level 3, the missing spell slot is added so the bug corrects itself, and he will get 3 level 1 spell slots, while a level 3 generic wizard will get only 2 level 1 spell slots.

So, in short, problem solved?

It's possible that the "1 spell short"-issue can be ascribed to the general iffyness of multi classed XP-gain.
