My first game finished fine, but I've since started a new one and run across another little bug.

I don't have Darian in my party this time around, but when I speak to Volo in Saradush, Darian comes up on the list of NPCs that he can tell me about. The dialogue terminates if I click to hear about him.

It seems like a really stupid question but I downloaded the mod, then I clicked on the setup option and it tells me that it cannot find the DIALOG.TLK in dialog.tlk. it also tells me that I need to run this program in my infinity engine. I tried uninstalling TOB and only installing with SOA but it gave the same message. Please help.

I actually ran into the same problem when I used WinRar to extract the files the first time I installed the mod.

Look in your BG2 directory. Do you have the darian.setup file INSIDE the Darian subfolder? If so, you need to copy the contents of that subfolder directly into the main BG2 directory. That way your darian.setup is on the same level as the dialog.tlk.

If it's already there, then I'm afraid I don't know what else to do. That's about the extent of my modding experience. I hope you work it out.

Informed K'aeloree about these problems, and he's confirmed he's aware of them.

Apologies for not checking this regularly.

Make sure you extract the mod to the correct directory (the directory in which your game is installed). :)

I have had no further lovetalks since the wraith (possibly because the Saradush destruction dialogue appeared before it, instead of after). Romance Global is still set to two. Is there a console command to advance to the next one? I've killed Sendai but haven't gone to Abazigal yet.

Some variables as follows:

T1DARRELATIONSHIPTALK 1
T1DARROMANCEACTIVE 2
T1DARROMANCEPATIENCE 1
T1DARROMANCETIMER 821351 (I guess this is SoA)
T1DARSEVERETALK 1
T1DARTOBLOVETALK 13
T1DARTOBTIMER 1795531

AdvanceRealTime should work - I don't think the subsequent talks are plot-dependent.

There should also be a PID option to force the next lovetalk - should be "We need to talk" or some such.

No, that option isn't there, just the "can we talk?" one that brings up what he thinks of Tethyr and so forth.
Also, the AdvanceRealTime doesn't seem to do anything, alas.

I tried loading an early save and the "we need to talk" options are there (where you can talk about pregnancy etc) but disappeared after the wraith talk.
I've just spent a bit of time rushing through Saradush to try and get the wraith talk before the Saradush talk. However, it didn't come - he only wants to talk about Saradush on resting, even after the wraith (which didn't fire). It seems as though the talks are firing out of sequence, maybe?

nb: playing on from my post Sendai saves yielded no further talks, aside from interjections. I chose to ascend so got the relevant epilogue for that (which seems to be one of the more positive ones anyway, from what I've read - my character was human after all).

I think you've actually seen all the lovetalks you're supposed to see; the last lovetalk is where you choose where the relationship goes, and if you do so, it sets T1DarToBLovetalk to 13. The Wraith talk and the Saradush talk don't affect each other. :) They didn't fire out of sequence, just got sped up because the Saradush talk didn't properly check if Saradush had fallen.

Ah I see... it's a very short romance in ToB then! (At least, I only got four talks including the wraith, but did not opt to be pregnant so I'm not sure if that yields additional material). I think Nephele had more to aay than Darian during that game!

Having said that, Saradush cannot have fallen until after the wraith encounter, for obvious reasons. Most romances seem to handle the wraith talk along the same lines as the Biowares, as in immediately after, which is why I was thrown.

How long the romance in ToB lasts depends on your decisions. It can last anywhere from four to six lovetalks, depending on how persistent you are. The pregnancy thing only changes the epilogue and the dialogue after defeating Melissan.

And yes, Darian is a quiet person. He's introverted and usually only talks with Charname when there's something important he wants to talk about.

Ah OK, so aside from the early Saradush talk, he was working as intended. Good to know. Out of interest, how many talks does he have with Aerie if they are in a romance?

Six, with a seventh if Haer'Dalis is around. If it seems like I'm favoring Aerie over Charname, it mainly has to do with Darian's growth as a character between SoA and ToB - he's significantly more mature in ToB and far more ready for an adult relationship. He wasn't ready for one in SoA, and you know the fallout from that.

I did give serious thought to a longer alternate romance track for starting a romance with Darian in ToB if you didn't romance anyone in SoA, but ultimately decided against it. Given the circumstances and how he comes to view Charname in ToB if she didn't romance him in SoA, though, I decided against it. In ToB without a romance from SoA, Darian views Charname as unapproachable - a person to be admired and respected, but never a woman. He would never entertain romantic notions about her in ToB, and would be more than a little freaked out if she approached him.

Good to now. I may give Aerie and Darian a try on a future run.

First I want to thank you for the great NPC you've made, really one of my favorite romances and characters so far, and it would have been almost perfect were it not for some bugs I've encountered. First, the love talks with Daren are going too fast. I've barelly passed my 3rd day in SoA, and I already have 11 talks behind me. I'm not sure if this is important, but I don't have "Speed Banters" instaled (the option that goes with installing "Longer Road") or anything else that might speed them up or overall affect them or the love talks.
.
Also, when I went to the inn to rest, the 12th love talk popped out and after seeing it, I realized it was that one special talk you specified has to happen in the forest.

So far, Darian has been really, really wonderful and I liked his personality and talks you've written, so I hope you'll look into this once you find time, but perhaps it's my own game's fault since I haven't seen anyone else reporting this. Sorry to bother you in advance. :)

Passing this along to K'aeloree, who coded this. Thank you for alerting us to this issue, and I'm glad you're enjoying the mod.
