Well, that'll teach me to not read everything first time round... I'm getting way too good at that. Lockpicking that door is a baaad idea; honestly, there is a key for it... I thought I'd killed that problem by making the lock unpickable, but obviously the Infinity Engine has other ideas <sigh>.

DAMN! I've mucked up - I've gone and finished the Beholder cult after I couldn't get through the door, but I forgot to go back to a game where I hadn't picked the lock. Is there any way of unpicking that damn lock with the CLUA, or do I have to lose all that I've done today?

Ignore all that, I'm going back to do it properly.....

Unfortunately even going wayy back to a game where I am absolutely positive I hadn't picked the lock I still can't go through the door, after opening it the correct way. I'm going to return to the game where I've done the cult etc, use the CLUA and jump to get to the right place. Please let me know if that's going to cause a problem with the plot.

I have no idea what's going wrong there - I've just run through it here to be sure I haven't released something stupid. CLUA will upset the plotline because the jump puts you on the back side of the Traps of the Living, so....

1. Pause the game - this is important, otherwise you'll be in all sorts of trouble
2. CLUA in to ys0270
3. CLUAConsole:ExploreArea()
4. Scroll the screen until you get to the entrance on the righthand side of the area
5. Place the cursor somewhere near the door and CTRL+J
6. Unpause and the party should move directly to the cursor
7. Close the console.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear - but I already did the CLUA jump to the entry point. I've been back to the tanar'ri, and we've had the "traps of the living" dialogue - so it worked.

btw I seem to be a magnet for what ever bugs exist in any mod ... not sure why, but it goes with my usual luck ;)

Another problem, and this one is a game stopper. I've crossed the traps, killed all the demon knights, and exited the maze with the key to free the Tanar'ri. However each time I go to talk with him he doesn't recognise that I have the key :(

Told you i was a bug magnet ... sometimes I feel like one of those lights you used to get in the back of greasy spoons with a bug zapper inside - but my bugs don't get zapped ;)

Save Game immediately before going into Tanar'ri Room

Well, everything is in its right place, bar one thing - it appears as if the area script for the dwarflord's tomb failed to trigger correctly after you picked up the key.

CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("dai_talkedtotanaari","GLOBAL",3)

I've made some minor changes to the area script but I don't know if they'll have any effect.

That worked perfectly. I was hunting for a GLOBAL that could be the problem, but I only looked under the YS group. Many thanks for the back up :new_thumbs:

I'm back in the *expletive deleted* cave, and once again I can open a magic door with the key, but I can't go in ... again :wall: This time it's the dwarven halls - and yes,
Spoiler

Here's a rar file with a game immediately before I insert the key, and one immediately after.
Attached File  Dwarf Hall Key Games.rar   1.09MB   260 downloads

There's nothing showing on the error log.
My WeiDU is unchanged, but here it is again anyway

I have found the door - there's a very small spot that you have to get the cursor over very precisely ... but when I get the door symbol and try to go through it doesn't work. The party lines up and then just stops - whether I try one at a time, two at a time or the whole party.

Try to left-click little lower, the cursor is questionmark and then left click few times. There is textscreen saying "The pile of rock collapsed when you inserted the magic key."

I've had that already, and I can make out the door ... just. I can also get the door symbol with the arrow pointing inwards - but I can't get it to work. I had exactly the same problem with the door into the maze. Yovaneth and I tried a few fixes, but in the end I had to use the CLUA ctrl/J cheat to get round it.

Sorry i misunderstood then.

I didn't have any problems to go into dwarven caves or maze, but i did have that problem at 4th floor of lighthouse.

That isn't supposed to happen - grrr. The tiny spot for the door symbol is an accident caused by a mismatch between the 'trigger' area outline (normally blue) and the door outline (always invisible). They should be identical.

What is supposed to happen is the door should open as soon as you attack it with the pickhammer. What is happening is that the script is actioning the 'Unlock Door01' instruction and ignoring the following 'Open Door01' instruction. In this case, if you simply click the cursor anywhere within the trigger area then the door will open.

Having figured that out and completely destroyed both a savegame and the cave area while trying to fix it, I'm away to bed for the night.

We now have proof positive I am an utter idiot  I tried it all again with my pick-hammer in my pack, NOT in the wolf-skin bag ... and lo and behold, it worked!
