Heartbroken, and I don't think it's Adrian's fault!

I posted a help request over at G3 so I won't repeat it here, but I will just say the short version of what happened just in case any previous testers ran into my problem and it could possibly be attached to Adrian, or Dace, or...whatever!

I'm LOVING LOVING LOVING LOVING Adrian.  We're committed, did sooo much, finished the UD, just did the Bodhi thing, and now... :crying:

I can't go ANYWHERE without crashing to desktop every time I try.  Anyway, I could just cry because I miss him and am so close to finishing!

I posted my log at G3 and hope that someone knows something.  I do have the previous versions of the mods installed instead of the brand-newest ones because I just did a new install a few weeks ago but didn't have time to play.  I hope that isn't my mistake.  As I recall, I think the Readmes did not mention fixing of game-breaking bugs.  So, it could just be some weird thing I did or some weird party combo or something.

Tho at one time Dace's death halted all my ability to rest because, I found out, she wanted to "make it" with my pc and she died before she could.  So...that didn't end until I replaced her completely.

Oh, I just hope for my lovely Zhent to return!  The upshot is, I suppose, that I can just stat ToB with him (I think I can) and summon his as my lover and finish the romance.

So, if anything sounds familiar to anyone and it could in any way be because I screwed up with Adrian, I can post my log.  But I'll hope that someone over at G3 can help.  That's under my sister-in-law's acct name, but oh well, it's fine and a very obvious cry for help.  :)

No, there was nothing game breaking that was fixed with the latest version.

What area are you in before you get the CTD, and what area are you trying to move to? Have you tried to console yourself to a different area? It's possible that you've got some sort of modded area file crashing things, though I'm pretty sure it's not in Adrian unless there's some crossmod conflict with Dace going on.

I am in the Temple Ruins area.  I did try the console, and it still crashed.  I CAN go to Elhan, however, but as soon as he teleports my party...CRASH again.  Ugh.  Well, I'll start a ToB, keep my install for now, and see if I find an answer.  I just don't know.  This is so weird.

Can you post your WeiDU log?

Might also be worth checking your hard drive for problems and doing a defrag.

Thank you for helping.  And I found out what it was just about two minutes ago.  I did do the defrag last night to be sure of things, since my pc is older but recently upgraded.  Plus, I have the GOG version which is new and I read somewhere that it had all the necessary patches.

It doesn't.  The problem was, I just found out, was that I didn't use the G3 Fixpack.  Because I thought it wasn't necessary.  It is.  So, if anyone else uses GOG don't forget the G3 Fixpack.

BTW, it was helpful to do a defrag!  My pc did find a few things and hopefully they are now rectified.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your quick responses, and thank you Cal Jones!  Next time I run into a problem I'll post my WeiDU log.  I only didn't this time because I didn't know if it was Adrian or not, and because I was at G3 first and didn't want to accidentally spam forums.  I'm an older lady, and I don't know all the etiquette, but I think it's considered bad form to post at two forums so closely together.  Even tho this one and G3 are my two fave sites.  :)

Nah, I think if you're running into problems, posting around to look for help is fine.

Is it that there's something wrong with the GOG version that absolutely requires the fixpack? Or something with one of the other mods you have installed? Since I forget to use the fixpack all the time and have never run into this issue.

Hmm... now THAT I'll check into.  I don't know, actually.  I have always remembered Fixpack before and never had any issues.  However, this time I wonder if it could be, looking at my Log, if adding a kitpack mod AFTER Tweaks did it.  But I've occasionally added mods after Tweaks and never had problems.  I'll post my log here, but I'll also try to find out why this is the first time I had problems.

I actually don't use the Fixpack myself - last time I did use it I kept getting crashes from the tanari gaze attack. Adrian still worked fine for me. I use the tweaks pack, the quest pack (with the BWP fix - it's buggy otherwise), Atweaks and bits of UB.

I've always used Fixpack and this one time I forgot odd things happened.  However, I did install a few things after Tweaks, which may have been the issue.

I've tried to find out why Fixpack is recommended for the GOG version, but I came up with nothing.  I don't know why it should be used.  But you and Rhaella have NOT used it and been fine.  *confused*  I don't get it!

Still, I've sucked it up and done a new install and been careful to not forget anything.  I didn't install UB, because it is buggy, as you said, Cal Jones.  So far so good!  Now, poor Arath will have to wait AGAIN over Adrian.  ;)  I can't wait to finish an entire game with him.  He is an absolute joy and so perfectly/professionally done.

Thanks to all who worked on Adrian!  He's positively scrumptious.  :)

I'm glad you've been enjoying him! ^_^ I would've said to just skip straight to ToB, but Suldanessellar is actually pretty important.

I'm kind of worried that the problem might actually be with Dace, though I have no idea what it might be. I can't imagine it's the Fixpack there either if Cal Jones has been playing her without it.

I use bits of UB only - some of the quests (usually Kalah, Valygar's if I'm using him, and I've used Minsc's once but I don't normally take him), restored ToB powers (David Gaider), item restorations. Those work fine. I think it's the dialogues one that causes issues with some mods.

It's the Quest Pack that has bugs but if you install the BWP fix (here: http://www.shsforums...-world-fixpack/) after your other mods it will fix the bugs and you won't need to run it again (unless you delete that mod and download it again).

I have had some bugs with Dace v1 (mostly interjects) and as she's a new mod it may be related to her. Some bugs don't come out in immediate playtesting and only appear when the mod is out in the real world, so to speak. I remember trying to run a party with Keto and Edwin and those two didn't play nicely together, so there's that.

So, installing BWP fix won't screw up my GOG version?  Oh, I'd better read the link first.  But, I've been thinking that Dace could have something wrong, because I couldn't rest my party until she had her say.  I'll post that in her forum and see if anyone knows anything.  I have a new install, but I have the old Log posted here, so it would be simple matter of copy and paste if the Dace author wants a look.

I finally finished my game with Adrian and I have to say I positively LOVED it!  I'm glad I got a happy ending, because I seem to recall reading somewhere that that wouldn't necessarily be the case.  Adrian is just wonderful and I'll be romancing him again - probably beginning tonight.  :)

Bummer that I can't have my "freebie" romance with Saravok all the way, but it is okay up to a point far enough into ToB that it isn't really a problem to split off games and finish both romances.

My only irritation is that if I have Saravok in my party HIS Wraith scene ALWAYS triggers over anyone else's.  I even killed him, but still, all I got was Adrian mentioning the encounter that I didn't see.  Annoying!  But as usual I have a lot of mods installed and that is likely the problem.  But why a dead Saravok...never mind.  He's just THAT persistent!  :)

I have to romance the lovely Adrian again.  I never got a drunk talk with Anomen in my party even tho I got him drunk a few times.  I would have loved to see that!  (I read that someone else here got that dialogue!)

Hmm, I'm pretty sure the Sarevok Wraith issue is a matter of installation order. Whichever one is installed last is going to be the one that triggers, so unless you put Sarevok higher in your installation order, his is always going to fire. =)

If you kick him out of the party for a minute, the other wraith scene should have a chance to get through, though I'm not sure you'd want to take on the wraiths without him, haha.

I'm glad you've enjoyed him!

FWIW, I give the installation of BG2 Fixpack, always in the most recent version whenever possible, my highest recommendation. If there was only one mod I could ever install, it would be that one, so naturally I install it before anything else.

Thank you, both of you!  That makes sense about the Wraith Encounter.  And Eric P. I'll definitely keep the Fixpack at the top of my list.  I can't believe that last time I forgot it.    I also just realised that I posted my praise for Adrian in the wrong thread.  Sorry!

And yeah, the Wraith Encounter without Sarvok really was tough, but at least Anomen ended up to be resurrectable...  :D  I still was annoyed that even with Cntrl-Y'ing poor Saravok that his encounter tried to take place anyway.  Argh!  Well, this next time I'll just have to close my eyes while I have my husband not accept Saravok's offer to join me in ToB...

One question, Setepenre... when did he break things off during the Sarevok romance? I thought I had set things up so that he'd ignore it unless you actually slept with Sarevok, which I don't think is mandatory? Though I'm a terrible person who has never actually managed to finish ToB on a serious run, so I wouldn't know for certain, haha.
