Hello everyone. I just wanted to let you know I made a video tutorial for a megamod using Big World Setup. You can watch it in youtube in the link bellow:

In the video description, I link watchers directly to this forum, to post: http://www.shsforums...te-the-program/

So thanks to Quiet  for making it possible.

I don't sound very confident because English is not my first language so sorry if it bothers you. You can also watch in my channel other Baldur's Gate related videos (I plan to make more).

There is also an Spanish version here in case you know the language:

I have large issues with the install folder you used... it's in the user profile folder.
1.1) This is usually too secure place to install games that one intends to modify. With Windows going on it's rampart rage on the Programs Files folder, like a drunk, the next place they are going to go and hit is this.
1.2) There's an upper limit to the characters the BGT input can take. The windows profile name can cause the limit to get exceeded and the BGT will always error out for that reason, destroying what's tried to be done.
As for reference of this, there has already been a thread about this guide, that had this exact issue.

So I would suggest to suggesting to install the games to the C:\Juegos\BGII - SoA\ and C:\Juegos\Baldur's Gate\ -folders.

Anyways, if you could just... hopefully edit that stuff to a decree, this guide would be nice.
And don't worry about the English, lots of people here don't speak it as the primary language, actually the Germans are the most frequent visitors on this site, and if the Finnish Imp can knows what you say, they will as well. The only reason we all use English is that it's the most common language.. well, after the Mandarin.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Thanks for your responses. I have been so full of work that I have little time to spare on this. However I will make a better version of the tutorial, that is one of the reasons I posted it here in the first place.

I have never had an issue with the "games" folder for installation, but I remember once I installed the BWS in C:\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate 2 and I got hundreds of errors. Searching the web I stumbled upon a post with the answer. The folder had to be called exactly "BGII - SoA". However I must say that I was using a much older version and the spanish version for the mods, and I supposed that was not to be a problem, but it turned out it was (back then at least, so I will try with the current version).

Alien: It is a nice idea to split it in several parts so I will do it for the corrected version. The settings can be saved customizing them before making the backup, so I will mention it also.

Imp: I don't have an English version of windows, but I can tell you that "saved games" and "juegos guardados" is the SAME folder in my computer. This sounds a little strange, but the programs take it a synonyms, as well as it does for "Program Files" and "Archivos de Programa" in unmarked and (x86) versions respectively.

I have learned from trial and error that it is not exactly necessary to start the new game and make a new save before the BWS, though I understand that it is good practice to do so. Also I will install the widescreen mod next (the sample in the video does not have it installed).

Thanks for the corrections I will include the folders and your recommendations for the corrected version of this tutorial, coming soon :P

I will do those videos hopefully next week. I just jumped to make it as soon as I saw nobody had uploaded a visual tutorial of this, but now I think I should do a bit more of reading.

Much appreciated. Very much actually.

And as for the game folder's name related thing, it's was known with the Ashes and Embers mod. And yes, the modern computers have those ghost name folders, the thing is, some of the older systems tend to hate everything new.

So I would suggest to suggesting to install the games to the C:\Juegos\BGII - SoA\ and C:\Juegos\Baldur's Gate\ -folders.

Since Windows 8 and above, explorer.exe isn't executed with Administrative privilege" even if we use full admin account, I would strongly suggest to use the only 100% safe directory: C:\Users\username (%USERPROFILE%)

I never use the right click "Run as admin" command when installing to the C:\Games -sub directories, ever. It's safe for sure to use, the "Juergos" is just translation of the "Games" word, a user defined one at that, as I would never suggest you to use the C:\Pelit -sub director that I use to install all my games to, which is Finnish for "Games". Yes, I always use the English user language as it's easier to use programs as the Finnish instructions are usually missing... or non existent.
Very similar advice as mine is given elsewhere too.

The video above instructs to use the C:\Users\(userprofile)\(Saved Games)\Black Isle\ -folder, but as said the BGT has an upper limit to install folder location info... and everything extra will make it so much more likely to failure. So why not use the Minimum ? C:\(Games)\ - be that "games" any user defined folder as s/he likes it to be... and then consider using a creative user names ... "Imp the destroyer of non-modern games and source of bad directories #2 ECHO OFF" and try to insert a directory with that in it to your MSDos screen and see what it prints out, no likely much cause the ECHO OFF command. I even use the user name "-" on one of my computers. Cause it's easy, but would never install anything to the users profile folder cause the user can switch but the Windows only allows one BG2:ToB install... you can access your computers drives by simply opening the Start tabs "Computer" command on the Windows XP/Vista/7 and clicking it. It's best to attach an icon of that to the desktop on Windows 8.1 ... actually it's likely to be there already.

K, I'll take your word for it ALIEN... so install all the IE games to C:\Users\<userprofilename>\ if you use the C drive on Windows 8, and 8.1.

If you think about the length of filenames that ntfs supports, I'd guess even 50 characters in "your folders name" should not be a problem.
Still 200 characters left. So why complain about it? It would be easier than adjusting permissions for everybody on some folder.
THINK! - It's not illegal.
