As suggested in the main thread, I'm starting a new thread about my BWS install for bug reporting. This is based off the Tactical preset, but I did a fair bit of customisation particularly activating SCS components (basically I activated all BP and SCS components, then analysed the conflicts to decide which I would prefer)

weidu.log:

Spoiler

I also selected the following components but they weren't installed for various reasons:

Spoiler

So far I've come across a few minor bugs:
  • Unshey (girdle quest in FAI) will only talk to me once to give the quest, has "nothing to say" to me if I come back, whether I have the girdle or not
  • On the Coast Way between FAI and Beregost, some non-hostile characters flee from me, although do not initiate combat and will talk as normal if I chase after them to do so: the messenger from the vanilla game (can't remember his name because he's run off), and Lord Oti + Marthana Shipsail who gave me a quest to retrieve the Castle Halwater deed (not sure what mod these come from)

Mod: Area Patcher

Component: Fix Jarls BGT Adventure Pack - JA#C05.ARE - Trigger 0 - Door8100
I manually overrode the warning on the BGT Adventure Pack to install but this component raised "Jarls BGT Adventure Pack 1.61 is required to install this component." error. Not sure why, or how alarmed I should be over this...

Definitely unsure about the way it is implemented (I mean about warnings etc) in BWS (I don't use it) but as long as you can install that component don't worry. Weird that it raised a FAIL error as you have installed Jarls BGT Adventure Pack :o

The only things I changed from ALPHA 4 are just some checks :whistling:

Oups.... fault of mine in tp2 code of Area Patcher :wall:

I wasn't able to install the component - I meant BWS has a warning on BGT Adventure Pack for conflict with NTOTSC, but as I understand it, the conflict is more an inconsistency (they both recreate the same cut content) rather than an actual game-breaking bug. What exactly does the area patcher do and will it break the game if I don't have it installed?

The component fixes a wrong destination area in JA#C05.are.

I made a stupid mistake while revising code to update it to ALPHA 6 :whistling:

Can anyone help me with how to trace where a particular change comes from (or knows this one)? I just recruited Kagain, and he has 19 CON - I very intentionally unselected the 'Give Kagain a legal Constitution Score of 19' component, because I don't agree with it, so I'm curious what other mod might have done this so I can see what else it changes.

Did you try the suggestion I wrote you via PM for Area Patcher? Did it work?

doh, sorry, missed that - trying it now, I'll let you know how it goes.

EDIT: installed the Adventure Pack component without raising an error, game starts up fine...

Glad to hear it

Sorry for that issue but it was a very stupid mistake I made. Did not notice it

I can't say for sure, but this:

~LEVEL1NPCS/LEVEL1NPCS.TP2~ #0 #51 // Balanced BG1 NPC attributes -> mos_anted's revision: v1.9 BWP Fix

Should be it.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

I think you're right there - had a look at the original discussion and it appears both attribute rebalancing components will lower his CON to 19. An annoyance, but I otherwise like the changes made so I will console myself with manually editing their scores (I like Kagain's and Coran's "illegal" scores because I always saw them as a unique bonus equivalent to Minsc's rage or Branwen's spiritual hammer, etc.)

I don't know if it's worth noting against the "Give Kagain a legal constitution score of 19" component that exactly the same thing is achieved through the level1npc components?

Since you're doing an install with the latest BWPFixpack, have you noticed the issue Muchkin Mooch reported in this post? (in the quotes)

Also, new conflict reports are always great :) (helps keep out redundant components for the WeiDU.log :P)

I really like BWS and the work of all the modders and fixers so really happy to contribute in any small way I can :)

No random offensive spellcasting from Firebead at either Candlekeep or Beregost (he casts his Protection From Evil spell as expected), or Ygnatius at FAI. They seem to be all OK.

I'm glad to hear that 1 round bug might be vanquished then :D Good job, guys!

And best of luck with the install, wizardcorp. Nice to see another person joining the BP-SCS mixing fray ^^ Guess Unshey is being finnicky in general, she did the same thing for me. I'm also curious if your characters will start standing aflame all the time after a while too and if it's related to the Vampiric Lord Wolves after all. It was such a strange bug lol.

Have fun playing and Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays everyone!

Ah nice :D

So no noticeable stuttering with spellcasters and stuff? I'm not too keen on extending the NoAction() patch to every mod under the sun because of the if-it-ain't-broke-don't-fix-it rule so it's good to know that BP is closer to a stabler installation now :)

No, nothing particularly noteworthy will spellcasters as yet - the two mage battles I've had so far (Tarnesh and Silke) have gone reasonably as expected. I think I'm using SCS mage AI though so this might not be the most useful source (it was a very hard deciding between the two)

What mods/components did BG2 Tweaks say the tables tweaks were superseded by?

For the issue with Yikari not recognizing BP Kuroisan, can someone (Lollorian?) look into that?  The intent seems to have been that it would recognize the BP version, so I'm considering it a bug in Yikari, not a conflict.

There wasn't anything in the install log to indicate what the conflict was, but having checked the TP2 file for the Sorcerer component:

REQUIRE_PREDICATE NOT FILE_EXISTS_IN_GAME ~bpduearc.spl~ @16 // non-BP
REQUIRE_PREDICATE NOT FILE_EXISTS ~data/rot-rule.bif~ @16 // non-RoT
REQUIRE_PREDICATE NOT FILE_EXISTS ~data/tdd-rule.bif~ @16 // non-TDD

and again for the THAC0:

REQUIRE_PREDICATE NOT FILE_EXISTS_IN_GAME ~bpduearc.spl~ @16 // non-BP
REQUIRE_PREDICATE NOT FILE_EXISTS ~data/rot-rule.bif~ @16 // non-RoT
REQUIRE_PREDICATE NOT FILE_EXISTS ~data/tdd-rule.bif~ @16 // non-TDD

I'm guessing it was BP, RoT, and TDD.

Another bug: I gave Bub Snikt the kit from this component to try and liven him up a little bit:

~SETUP-LOHMOD.TP2~ #0 #4 // Disciple Of Mephistopheles The Fighter Kit: v1.0 BWP Fix

But when I tried to use the Burning Hands innate ability granted by the kit, it crashed to desktop, tried it multiple times with the same result. Furthermore, when I tried to rest, the game hung indefinitely. I keeper'd him back to a true-class fighter and removed the spell, am able to rest again. Also had my PC memorise and cast Burning Hands a couple of times successfully as a test to see if there was a problem with the spell animation.

No conflict, just install order issues - just make sure the Yikari component is installed AFTER the BP/Tactics component :P

Thanks wizardcorp and Lollorian.  I've just updated bp-test branch to address several of these issues.
