Regarding the elemental prince Summon Minion ability:

@TGM & Littiz

From what I recall, the demons that the PC can take control of in the Throne of Bhaal have a gate spell that lets you call in additional demons. I don't remember having problems with the summoning cap even though I summoned about 50 of them. If possible it would be best to use that technique for the elemental minions spell.

Does anyone know what technique is used here, or which spell file I should look at to see how it was done?

SimDing0 has a tweak for this in his tweak-pack. He changes the gender of all "summoned" creatures.

So the summoning limit is based of the gender of the creatures? Ie: You are allowed to have x creatures in the party with the gender Summoned, or Summoned Demon?

Looking at doTweak, it seems that Sim has changed the gender to 0x14 for all the various summoned creatures and told the anti-summon spells (death spell, etc) to affect gender 20 from gender .ids. I opened up Gender.ids and it only went up to entry 18. That part doesn't make sense to me, unless Sim has arbitrarily created a value for a new gender type and extrapolated what spot it will show up in the gender.ids file.

Either way, I guess we should stick to a maximum of 3 minions summoned (per Elemental Prince of course). Since their stats WILL be raised somewhat, I think it is necessary to keep their summoning abilities at bay.

0x14 hex is the same as 20 decimal.

Basically, I chose a random number (just happened to be 20) to change the gender of all the CREs to. I then had to modify the IDS targetting of the spells to destroy creatures with this gender.
The fact that it doesn't appear in the IDS is irrelevant. Much like specifics, you can assign any value you want up to 255, so long as it is used consistently.

Notice also that I haven't updated enemy script targetting to account for the new genders. Why? Because WeiDU doesn't make this particularly easy. I should probably get around to it one day.

However, there's more... while removing the summonning limit is pretty easy, implementing a new one isn't so. Sure, you can attempt to script one in, but there are various obscure situations under which even the best method I could conceive would fail. Trust me, we spent a lot of time trying to work this out for DLTC.

About elemental minions: can someone alter the ToB Water Elemental in-game avatar to become a bit smaller (in other words, create a lesser water elemental)?

Is there a water elemental in IWD 1 or 2? I recall being told there was. If so, the animation may be appropriate.

Is there a water elemental in IWD 1

IWD Water Elementals look like a big blob of water - not too appealing. <_<

or 2

IWD2 uses the same(?) animation for WEs like ToB. What we need is a smaller ToB water elemental animation.

The gating powers of the modified elemental princes will GATE elementals instead of summoning them, so these creatures won't affect the summoning limit, you may have 5 other summons beside them. This means they won't be able to be killed via Death Spell and such.
