OK, with refinements nearly here, what are your plans? What kind of PC are you planning on playing first? What mods are you going to install and why?

_______

My plan is as follows:

I?ll be playing a NG Sorcerer that I?m taking through a TuTu game right now & I?ll have the following mods
-Ascension
-Kelsey
-Unfinished Business
-Bioware NPC Flirt Packs
-Banter Packs
-Improved Oasis II
-G3 / CamDawq?s BG2 Tweak Pack
-Ashes of Embers
-Tactics (partial)
-Ease of Use (2-3 components only)
-Throne of Bhaal Refinements

There is also a reasonable chance that I will try Dungeon-Be-Gone.

I?m considering Rogue Rebalancing and Virtue as well but only because of hype by Littiz and TGM in their documentation and here.

If I can find another good NPC mod there is a faint chance that I?ll toss that in the mix too.

My goal is to have lots of extra role-playing content while getting to have fun with the new stuff from Refinements.

If you are looking for good roleplaying, then Virtue is highly recommended. Many of the mods are starting to take advantage of Virtue's system, including Unfinished Buisness and Refinements. While it does not have any effect on BGI content (yet) it is a must have for me in BGII. Rogue Rebalancing (and all of the rest of the aPack by aVENGER) is also highly recommended.

well, if they put Herbalism feature in, and open it to rangers (hint-hint), I perhaps will at least re-start ToB with a cleric/ranger, Valygar romance (if finished by then), Kelsey and Flirt-Packs. I cannot guarantee that I will make it past Saradush though :)

Quite long-term plans, if you ask me!

As for me, I already started a new game with a LE monk PC. The list of mods I'm going to install is quite long though, I install anything that works bugfree and fits into the original concept of BG2. I use every battle-improvement that don't cheat THAT much. I use to install several NPC mods including Valen (modified), Sola, Kelsey, Chloe (modified), Elai and Silver Star. I also add a few general enhancement mods like Oversight, Rogue Rebalancing, Virtue, Item Upgrade (modified) etc.

And of course I install Refinements :) !

Man, you guys run a lot of mods.

I'll have:

Rogue Rebalancing
Solaufein
Tashia
Virtue
Refinements

I have tried a bunch, but really don't use them. Chloe, Imoen, Silver Star (seemed buggy, but very very creepy), Nalia Romance.

I also cannot in good faith recommend Dungeon-be-gone to anyone that respects BG2. I did try it one, and that was enough. I'll suck it up and play the dungeon. Perhaps a better option to skip the dungeon would be to Cntl-Y and CLUA your way through it if you are that bent on getting it done fast.

Virtue
Refinements

I'd suggest installing them in reversed order - Virtue is the only mod that should go on top of Refinements, since it has some effects on the Sword Angel component.

Or simply install Illyxh from Tactics. It is an extremely good and tectical modification and makes the Dungeon REALLY hard and interesting. I always fight him and his group, with different success. I have to admit though that in its latest form the Illych component has most of its previous flaws corrected.
The Improved Dungeon component of the Battles mod can also help a little - it improves the end fight of this area (the Shadow Mage and his two assassins) somewhat.

If you think I have time to play the game, you have to be mad!

Anyway, I'll use many of the most popular ones, avoiding things like ease of use and such. Many components of tactics and Item upgrade are well worth it though.

Virtue, Banters, Rogue Rebalancing, Revised Hell Trials, Improved Oasis, Ascension, UB will be also in of course.
Probably I'm missing something. Some of the new ones I have still to check.

In any case, I won't probably play until even RtW is out.

I'd suggest installing them in reversed order - Virtue is the only mod that should go on top of Refinements, since it has some effects on the Sword Angel component.

No, Sim provided ideal compatibility.
Virtue can be installed BEFORE OR AFTER the Sword Angel, things will be fine in any case.
The important thing is to use BOTH!! ;)

EDIT: I have some doubts about Ashes of Embers. I don't know if "we" are compatible.

Ever forward, my darling wind...

I don't think that it's compatible with TDD, but Littiz can answer this for sure. ;)

My mod list I'll use (yeah, I do intend to *play* soon)... In no real order:

Baldurdash
Ascension
Redemption
Unfinished Business
Sim's Tweaks
G3 Tweaks
Rogue Rebalancing
Ease - Of - Use
Ashes of Embers
Kelsey
Banterpacks
Virtue
Elai and Cleric Remix betas, and Lands of Intrigue initial coded stuff.
And of course Refinements... :)

I'm noticing some of those appear on several peoples' lists. :)

I've probably forgotten something, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Littiz, where are you ? I repeat the question : Refinements will be compatible also with larger mods like Darkest Day, Shadow over Soubar, Tortured Souls, NeverEnding Journey, Check the Bodies ?

I have Tortured Souls installed. I never played it yet, but I think things should work with that one.

I never had the rest of those mods, so I can't say.
TDD changes too many things for anything to be compatible with it. That said, some components or Refinements might even work, but certainly not all.

As I said elsewhere, I will do my best (given time!) to provide compatibility with other WeiDU mods, since it is a fair-trade, and "we're all on the same boat", as we say.
NON-WeiDU mods are very low on priority for me, especially since more often than not they do some many changes that every attempt might end in a simple waste of time.

Ever forward, my darling wind...

Littiz, another question : Refinements is compatible with Solaufein and Kiara&Zaiya mod (because Refinements will become a permanent addition to my BG2 and I intend playing those mods again).

And it should be compatible with the K&Z mod as well - BTW I strongly advise using the new monk table for Kiara instead my old one in that mod. ;)

I'm currently soloing a neutral evil sorcerer (taking benefit of both Virtue and Refinements). Next will probably some evil party. I'm still busy on a E F NG F/M with Anomen, Kelsey and Imoen. As soon as my male elven archer finishes BGITutu, he'll be next, romancing Tashia.
