He's higher than even a god. I thin kAo is male. I recall reading something or other that made him (note usage of this pronoun is simply defaulting to it due to lack of knowledge)(also note it would've been easier to write Ao each time than that explanation) out to be male.

Ao is genderless, raceless, the embodiment of the Balance.

As Kish said, but he has been known to take a form of an old bearded man upon 2 occations iirc (Waterdeep, avatar series book3, and Shadow of the Avatar series, when he talks to Elminster (and smokes Elminsters pipe)

AO is from my perspective the Real DnD god, the others are more like powerfull angels or deamons

The deity power rankings are:
Greater god.
Intermediate god.
Lesser god.
Demigod.

Tmk, there's no such thing as a quasi-god.

I think a few of the supplements use quasi-deity as a synonym for demigod, though the latter is more commonly used. :)

The main Goblin deity is called Maglubiyet.

Ao's rank is 'overgod', but while other worlds (Krynn, Oerth, etc) presumably have overgods too, IIRC he's the only one who we even know the name of.

BTW overgod is to greater god as greater god is to mortal.

Chaos is the overgod of Krynn, I think. He is known as the "Father of All and Nothing" anyway.

a quasi-god could be Asmodeus, the lord of Nine Hells. He is not a deity but he is surely more powerful
