OK.

I have restarted everything.

BTW, BWS installs BG2 Fixpack & BGT-weidu for you, so really one only needs BWS.

I'll post any problems that show up.

I just wanted to confirm my install order as being correct... and that it's now safe to proceed to BWS.

Well, you'll need a clean and patched BG2 install for the BWS... so the answer is still, Nope. :P

If I understand you correctly, GOG's BG I & II comes with all the patches already.

In a previous message you said the order is "BG2 Fixpack, BGT-weidu, BG1 UB"...

At what point should BWS be installed?

If I'm still on the right track then it's time to install whatever mods I want, using BWS?
Is all of that correct?

Nope, all those mods and the 394 other mods are included in the BWS process, as it's a setup tool to download and install every BG2 mod it's maker know that exist and can be made to compatible with each others... its optional to use it or not, and I would only encourage to use it if you want to install many more mods or so called mega mods.

I understand that BWS is optional. (I intend to use it.) 8)

OK. I think I understand everything. This is what I have done so far.

I installed the GOG versions of BG I and BG II in that order.

Then I started the games to initialize the config files. I did not create any characters.

Then I installed BG2 Fixpack.

Then I installed BGT. (Note: I did not BIFF my files.)

Then I installed BG1 UB into the BG II folder, not the BG 1 folder.

Now I'm going to install WideScreen.

Yeah... but those two don't actually work correctly, as they can crash the game if you equip the two handed weapon for example, with the Widescreen mod, the game works, flawlessly.

The 1280 x 960 is actually a normal large TV resolution... you can test this by dividing the former with the later and you get 4:3=1.3333, while the widescreen is 16:10=1.6 or 16:9=1.777.
PS, the 1680's other resolution is x 1050, not x 800. If you want the game have the widescreen resolution, then you need to know what resolutions your monitor can use, to find that out, just right click the your desktop, and there's an option to set resolution that gives your current option for windows, the game uses different once, but you need to use one of the options there, or it will look distorted.

That's some good info; Thanks.

I installed Widescreen at 1440 x 900 and it looks fine to me... for now.

One problem; There is no Dialogue Text showing. Text from the game itself is there in the dialogue windo, but not the dialogues when talking with an NPC, so no interaction with them is possible.

Nothing shows in the error log(s).

Any pointers?
