Darian critique

13 September 2022 - 11:43 AM

I finished Darian's romance last night. I thought it was good overall. I did like that he needed time to get over prejudices. I always appreciate a romance that takes it's time getting to sex. Even if it means I miss a Bodhi-nap.

However I did have one big gripe and one small gripe. I'll be hiding them with spoiler tags.

Spoiler

Overall, I'd rate him about with Verr'sza. He's not going make you go "awww" and curl infinitely on yourself until you wink out of existence, but he's worth it to keep and run through however many times. I'll definitely be romancing him again. But I did get annoyed that I had to manually set his variable to get his final SoA talk and his last two ToB talks and that annoyance could have colored my experience. (I'd be willing to concede, however, that I just didn't take 6+ hours on ToB to get those last two talks naturally)

(note: while Verr is not one of my favorite romances, I did enjoy him. So me putting Darian there is pretty good (for what my opinion is worth ;)) He's kind of like a good-aligned version of Verr  )

Final scene not triggering

10 September 2022 - 04:16 PM

How do you trigger the final scene? Because I've been through the whole end of SoA and even through the very start of ToB the damn thing didn't trigger. My romance active variable is 2, so it's not like I unknowingly broke it off. I got both the Spellhold and Underdark exit scenes. The dialogue file doesn't tell me diddly squat. I had to manually set the "T1DarFinalTalk" variable with EEkeeper. I doubt that's how one is traditionally supposed to trigger it...tell me this is a bug and won't necessarily happen in future playthroughs where I romance him

Darian's music

07 September 2022 - 09:40 AM

so far, I'm loving this mod. (I'm taking my sweet time leaving for Spellhold and have gotten past his forest talk awhile ago, so I haven't hit the final arc. The variable is still at 4, even though I did the talk where you can...do more than say you think he likes you.) My only problem so far (and it's really a nitpick) is his music. It goes on *for freaking ever* and *nothing* interrupts it short of exiting the game. It's pretty, don't get me wrong, but rather out of place in combat...is there some way to make it interrupt itself if I say get into combat? Or go to the main menu?
