Can someone answer to this other Big World post?

Do people have an idea what's stopping the Big World Install batch file from working in this case?

Also, any other replies to the above link would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Steven.

Is there a way to work out what changes are in the latest GoG.com Bald

16 January 2014 - 04:25 AM

I tried to install the Big World Project Standard English Windows mods, but it hung on the Bonehill files and a "_patch.exe" file at the start of the Big World Fixpack - nothing changed for at least half an hour.  I had disabled all virus/malware protection, completely disabled User Account Control in Windows 7 64-bit Pro and had disconnected my router from the internet.  Any ideas of what changes are necessary to make the latest GoG.com version of Baldur's Gate II Complete work with Big World Project Standard mods, or could you let me know how I would find out?  I'd like to get it compatible if possible, as I'm pretty sure the reason that it failed was that the patch was already done or it simply couldn't find the right data at the right spot.

And as an aside, what are the main differences between 2nd edition and 3rd edition rules?  When installing the Full Plate mod, it also gave a choice whether to install 3rd edition rules as well as or instead of the Full Plate modifications (which would have taken Full Plate into account if that was installed as well).

I'm really looking forward to setting up Big World Standard.  If it is too difficult to make the GoG.com versions of Baldur's Gate I and II compatible, I could instead use the DVDs for BG1 and 2 which I bought a number of years ago, except I will need to get a new optical drive before I can do that.

If I can get a good set of mods going from Big World, I would like to also make a DVD with all the files ready to install that would just need to be copied to the BG2 directory.  I would especially like to send it to someone who could host a 3 to 4 gigabyte or so archive, but at least I would like to send some DVDs with the archive to a few people when I have a bit of spare cash. =)

Thanks for all you do and all you are, and may 2014 be your best year yet! =)  Baldur's Gate (esp 2) must certainly be one of the most modded games in the history of games. ;-)

Best regards,
Steven.
