A possible walkthrough (possible spoiler)

31 December 2006 - 07:19 AM

Hello,

Just a question, has there been any thought into putting together a walkthrough or hint file?

I say this as I recently got pretty far into the main quest. I had a sorcerer and imoen left when I made it to candlekeep. I find that the npc are not particularly strong and some of the better magic items have stat limitations that further limits who can use them. The best that I could get with armor class is -16 (that was with the elf paladin) and he got waxed pretty early in the mountain crossing with all the demons, I think 3 or 4 hits from the demons from the lower planes and he was gone.

So I had my sorcerer (lvl 25) and imoen and faced my counterpart who duel wielded scimitars and tore through my planatars in about 10 seconds. I got him down in hp for the 3rd time and he said here battle my clones, now there were 3 that were immune to time stop and could see invisibility. Battle over and try again.

This time I set the difficulty to easy and gave it a shot. Same thing, got him down for the 3rd time and wamo end of game. Note: he did less damage but still withstood everything that I and imoen threw at him.

Is this an unbalanced issue or do I need an army of fighters with -20 ac to do damage. This guy killed my mordankaineans swords many times without doing any damage.

Here is one tactic I tried. I summoned two mordens swords to keep him busy. I cast lowered resistanced x3, time stop, improved allacity, and all my call comets, dragons breath, horrid wilting, flame arrows that I could cast and merrily got him down to injured. By the time I got to the point where he summoned his clones I had very few spells left.

I enjoyed the story line and commend the author for it, I would just like to see how the story ends. Unfortuneately, in the heat of battle rage I deleted the game after the 3rd time of throwing the kitchen sink at him and will have to start the game again to see how it ends.

Thanks for any thoughts or feedback.

bug report (major spoiler)

28 December 2006 - 03:55 PM

Here is a bug that I have found along the way. I only have the prescribed install, meaning the following:

shadows of amn
throne of bhaal
tob update patch
weimers ease of use (only those options that were indicated to work in the readme)

Drizzt joins my party before going through the mountains but by the time I come out and encounter bruenor who asks if I had seen drizzt the only option that was given was NO or somthing to that fact. Actually drizzt along with everyone else was killed by the demons.

Later on I resurrected drizzt and things went well. Heres the bug that I found fighting bodhi in candlekeep. If drizzt was destroyed permanently all of his special items were transfered to my character and I could not get rid of them. If I removed drizzt from my party the same thing happened. Very annoying and very useless since I had alot of other items that I could have given drizzt that might have helped but could not because all of his slots will filled.

It seems to me that drizzt was put there before the mountain pass to help the party, he is a good fighter however when I ran into the tanari and demons from the lower hells he sucked, some of them he couldn't even do any damage, got the weapon ineffective thing, never the less he lasted ohh about 10 seconds in those battles.

Thanks,

Romulas

help needed, stuck in candlekeep (spoiler)

28 December 2006 - 03:44 PM

contains spoilers,

So after convincing bodhi to give me her pass stone and losing 4 of my party members I head to the next level.  Here there is a portal and a guardian golem that doesn't say anything when I talk to him.  I go through the portal into the (unseeing eye) compound. After fighting all those backstabbing undead thiefs I get to the temple, kill those guys and nothing happens.  Then I notice in my journal that there is an entry saying that I could not find the next level guardian and that I can't "SEE" him.  This clues me into that he is invisible so I search the entire complex with the eyes of the sightless and don't find anything.

I am getting desparate now and go into shadow keeper to find other passes that are there and find minscs body and his pass.  So obviously minsc is somewhere around there and I have spent the greater part of a day (real time) looking for a portal or something, can anyone shed some light on this.

I even tried to add minscs body and his pass with shadowkeeper then go to the golem who doesn't do anything different.

Thanks in advance for any help.
