Topics I've Started

Hud-B-Gone(tm)

11 February 2011 - 05:28 AM

So, you'd like Miranda to wear something a little less stupid, but are tired of Bioware putting dumb crap on characters' faces? So am I

Let's start with the easiest one. Here's Tali, before and after.

Download this file here because the boards don't allow .tpf attachments.

Now, it gets more complicated.

Get these here.

Grunt and Miranda's visors share a resource, so it's not possible to package them separately. However, this resource is not exclusively used by the DLC costumes. It also affects a few other things in the game.

(There may be others, but these are the most noticeable ones.) Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about that; it's either this or having random rings floating around in front of Miranda and Grunt's faces, and that's... not the purpose of this mod.

Also, I'm not able to remove the actual headgear from Grunt and Miranda. I tried just slapping transparent textures on there, but it resulted in weirdly black models, so let's not do that.

Texmod is needed to use these, instructions are provided under the link.

ME3 trailer: the alternate soundtrack

14 December 2010 - 10:31 AM

I figured I should stop spamming the ME3 news thread with this, so: new topic, because I'm not done beating this dead horse yet OH NO.

The concept is simple: take the ME3 trailer, slap a new soundtrack on it, post it on the internet, INSTANT FAME. Whether serious or hilariously out of place - the trailer goes with absolutely anything you care to imagine.

Here are my original attempts:

Blue Öyster Cult - (Don't Fear) The Reaper - This shouldn't need an explanation.
Marily Manson - This Is the New Shit Shep - I will never let them live this down.

But the fun doesn't stop there! Other people have their own ideas, and some of them are pretty neat.

The B-52's - Rock Lobster - "Mass Effect needs more cowbell!"
Erasure - Always - "A nice counterpoint to all the death and destruction going on."
REM - Shiny Happy People - Because well, why not?
Blind Guardian - Sacred Worlds 1 2
Pokemon theme song - Grunt, I choose you!
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Teaser works ridiculously well, although the opposite doesn't work quite as nicely.
Blue Öyster Cult - Veteran of the Psychic Wars - This also syncs up pretty nicely

Make your own!

There are two easy ways to do this. Tubedubber lets you pick two youtube videos, shows the video from the first one and plays the audio from the second. Youtubedoubler plays two videos side by side, but has an easy box where you can control where the videos start - useful to skip long intros and such, or to match the music more closely with the video.

In either case, the ME3 trailer can be found here (and in many other places, certainly). The possibilities are endless.

Shepard's little... brown dress?

02 December 2010 - 09:42 PM

I was reading a thread where the subject of the colour of Shepard's dress came up.

Since I'm a complete moron sucker for modding, I did stuff. And I might as well post it here, because why not?

DARK LEATHER -|- BRIGHT LEATHER

The original black dress is pretty shiny, which makes me think it's supposed to be leather. It got kind of wonky when I just brightened and recoloured it, so I added a suitable texture.

For those of you who feel you have enough enemies without pissing off Space PETA (or just really care about the shifty looking cows), a third option:

CLOTH

...it's very shiny for cloth, and looks a bit coarse, but the files are only 1024x1024, so the textures have to be kind of big if they're to be recognizable at all.

You need Texmod to make these work. Instructions are provided along with the download.

This is my first attempt at doing anything 3D-graphics-related (with the exception of my attempt to create a monocle for my character in KoTOR, but that never went anywyere). Feel free to tell me things, and stuff.

"The final DLC for DA:O" announced

25 August 2010 - 10:30 AM

dragonage.bioware.com/dao/witch_hunt

"Never follow me." With these words, Morrigan vanished into the shadows. Her plans and her whereabouts have remained a mystery... until now. But whether you seek answers, revenge, or reconciliation with your lost love, you may find more than you bargained for.

Date: Available September 7th on PC, Xbox360, and PS3.

Price: $7 [560 BioWare Points, 560 MS Points, $6.99 PSN]

Key Features:
* Confront Morrigan in this dramatic conclusion to the Origins storyline
* Earn powerful rewards that transfer into your Awakening and Origins campaign
* Import your character from Origins or Awakening or create a new, high-level hero!

Witch Hunt is the final DLC for Dragon Age: Origins, and imo a great send off to an awesome game.

What happened to "2 years..."? Dragon Age 2.

Apparently three new characters will show up, but for now they're only letting us see one: "Ariane, a gifted Dalish warrior".

There are some screenshots up, but as usual, they don't really say much.

Bioware says, "Give us more money", releases new DLC

03 August 2010 - 06:09 AM

(...at least that's what I'm told, but it doesn't show up on my dlc menu.)

It's called the "Firepower DLC Pack" and contains the following:

M-5a Phalanx Heavy Pistol
Attached File  gun1.jpg   70.74K   510 downloads

M-96 Mattock Heavy Rifle
Attached File  gun2.jpg   75.65K   496 downloads

Geth Plasma Shotgun
Attached File  gun3.jpg   77.54K   494 downloads

When a "heavy" pistol won't do the job, the Phalanx brings the bang! It hits like a hand cannon and features an integral laser sight for a whole new aiming experience! Ever wanted a sniper rifle without the scope or an assault rifle without the recoil? The Mattock heavy rifle is a hybrid of the two, a semi-auto beast usable with any class with an assault rifle skill! The Geth Plasma Shotgun is a three-barreled monster that creates plasma the right way -- on impact! Charge it up for even greater damage, or blast away rapid-fire at longer ranges than normal shotguns

160 funbux. I'd say Cerberus Network? What Cerberus Network? except I already did.

Anyway, it's about time they released that damn pistol. It's been hanging around screenshots since what, before Kasumi came out? That's pretty slow.
