Ok, tried my hand at it and it worked flawlessly... A little time after starting playing with it Imoen delivered the dialogues she was supposed to deliver before the boddhi dialogue... All delivered while I was still at the underdark. So yeah, as long as you start using it before she gets her soul back you will be ok.
