And regarding KAROUG.CRE, checking the .cre with IE the baby is there, if using NI, the baby isn't there when ONLY viewing, but if u choose Edit, the baby is there

Yup. He carries the baby but it isn't assigned to any inventory slot. Therefore, it probably isn't getting dropped when he dies.

After killing Mendas I also got a variable that is called "SPRITE_IS_DEADMENDAS3" this is set to 1. If I change this to 0, my party transforms when leaving UB.

Well, when I kill Mendas, the variable SPRITE_etc remains 0 (it doesn't exist). If I change it to 1, no problem, even with INFECTED and WereFinish equal 1. Seems the SPRITE "overrides" the other two values and it was the one not being correctly modified by the game.

hmm... so for some reason the game didn't recognise that you'd killed Mendas.

did you have (assuming you have a saved game) something like SPRITE_IS_DEADMENDAS2 or something? ie - does Mendas have the wrong death variable? you can check the MENDAS3.CRE file, which will list what his death variable is.

if his death variable is correct - ie, it's MENDAS3, maybe you were just unlucky? although it's the sort of bad luck that suggests something is wrong with the area script. are you killing him too quickly - before he's made a speech or something? it's possible that he's not MENDAS3 until after some speech or denouement: the game sometimes does that to make sure you can't kill creatures before they've said or done what they have to do - Saemon Havarian is an example.
