I don`t know whether any1 has noticed this:
At the very beginning of SoA, in Irenicus dungeon, when you meet the jenee and asks the press button question, gibberlings appear if you are a coward. If battle feedback is on, the gibberlings instaed of having gibberling: hit jaheira for example, you`ll have gibberling : a dialogue sequence of some sort. (I hope I was clear here!!!)

Is this a BP glitch???

whenever you get dialog strings in the wrong place - such as you describe here with the gibberlings displaying lines of dialog instead of 'hit jaheira for...' - then it is definitive proof that yr install is stuffed somehow: ie, you installed something incorrectly somewhere in the install process.

if yr lucky, this will be the only place it happens i yr game and you'll be able to continue normally; however if you find wrong dialog strings in other places, the only solution is to re-install, unfortunately.

Yeah, your dialog.tlk sounds like it's hosed. Try talking to everything to can to see if the game is playable or not.

The problem is that whenever I install BP (about 4 times in all) I always get this gibberish gibberling chatter. Even when I installed BP only (no other mods) with the autoinstaller!

The only problem I encounter ALWAYS is when BP installation nears its ending I get COULD NOT FIND AUTOINSTALL.EXE (or similar); even though this file is in the bg2 directory.

How I installed bP:
installed SoA, ToB and patch....
in bg2 directory I put:
Tdd
Tdd patch
Shadows of S
Shadows of S patch
TS 5.0
TS 5.3 patch (i`m not sure about the number - it is the patch exe)
2 TS zip folder (which I extracted to "here")
BPFullG.exe (which I extracted to a dummy folder, copied and pasted the autoinstaller.exe and put the latter to the bg2 directory).
BPAutoinstaller.exe

Then I run the autouinstaller.

Anyhting wrong?

It looks like you didn't install the TS components into the TS-Install folder as required. Perhaps then what's happening is you're getting an incorrect dialog.tlk file from the TS instead of the BP one. Just a hunch.
Re-Read the installation guide, and double check that.

u also should have extracted the tortured soul zips in the override in the TS-INSTALL FOLDER and not in the BG2 main directory or override... hope thats the case...

I extracted the TS 504 and 505 to the zip folder itself, creating 2 folders 504 and 505 respectively in the bg2 directory.

The directions given in the automated installer are:
"By right-clicking the file and hitting EXTRACT TO FOLDER, where FOLDER is the name of the zip file".
If one follows the above logic in the readme manual, extraction should be to the zip files themselves and not to the ts-install override folder.

PLS can anyone clarify this???

re: TS504 and TS505. yes, extraction of the .zip files should be to the main BGII directory, so that you have folders named TS504 and TS505 in this directory - which, from what you have stated, you have done.

do you have any other mods installed? what about the directory that the TS-Install folder has gone into? i know when i run the TS50.exe and TS503 it always tries to extract them into the wrong directory - usually to my 'download' directory, where everything i, err, download gets initially saved to. TS503, in addition, tries to install to a TS_Install folder (it is supposed to do this if you are installing standalone TS).

how far have you got through BP? have you had combats other than with the gibberlings? did they have similar misplaced dialogue strings?

WEll I have just started again to try ctb also from the beginning.

Well I have several mods installed, but as I said before this wrong dialogues I even got in previous games, when I had ONLY BP and ease-of-use(approved bits only as readme suggests) installed.

The TS-Install folder is in the bg2 director>> Black Isle\BGII - SoA\TS-Install

The mods presently installed are: (in the order installed)

bg2Soa
bgsToB
patch26498
Shadows over S + patch
TDD + patch
TSv50 , 503 , 504 , 505
Big Picture
BP Fix Pack
Ease Of Use
Item Upgrade
Valen
Underpresented Items
Deeper Shadows of Amn
Improved Oasis II
Dark Ritual
SP items
Ajoc`s Shop
Ruad
A Pack
BP Series
Solafein
Check The Bodies

I am thinking of adding these but unsure:

FW Items (is the mod still very buggy??)
Both Planar Sphere Mods (When I tried to install gave me too many parsing errors)

PS: I looked into the override/sound/areas folders of the TS-Install folder. They are completely EMPTY. Is this the norm?

I had a lot of problems like this, all related to the TS read-only bug, and needing to consistently turn read only off in TS throughout my install..

I opened the properties page of all the folders within the bg2 directory of the installed mods and they are all marked as read-only. Subfolders within these folders are all read-only. However, individual files within these folders or subfolders have all the read-only mark unchecked. (ie not "read-only")

I don`t know whether this is significant.

STOP STOP STOP!

i've just tested the IGIBBER.CRE in-game myself, and they *do* give weird dialogues when attacking: see this screenshot. so it looks like we've been sending you on a wild goosechase, madsurgery - sorry! :( :bash:

[EDIT] and if you've been using the auto-installer, you don't have to worry about unflagging read-only files or anything like that: the auto-installer does all that for you. looks like we've wasted yr weekend trying to fix a working install...

uk.yahoo is having some problems ATM...
