the progress:
-baldur's gate 2 (german)
-throne of bhaal (german)
-tdb patch (latest version, german)
-BDash (english with english text pack)
-SoS (latest)
-TDD (latest, converts the game into english)
-TS (latest)
-BP161

no errors

now i continue installing (all in english):

freedom reign of virtue
-SoA data/DDstores.bif cannot be loaded
-ToB no error (but i uninstalled it immediately)

itemupgrade 32
-SoA no error
-ToB data/DDanyto103.bif cannot be loaded

ease v32
-infinite stacking data/DDanyto103.bif cannot be loaded
-unlimited bag of holding data/DDanyto103.bif cannot be loaded
-rest (of what i wanted) worked fine

unfinished business
-minsc's boo kidnapping error

i stopped installing at this point, since i see it's pointless......

any ideas what went wrong ?

I can only help if its the way you installed if your problem is more technical you'll have to wait until someone offers a solution.

Firstly did you do a manual or auto install?
I've attached an excellent guide for both options 'Yazzuie's excellent setup guide' its well wriiten and explains installation well.

If you mean by the latest version of TS part 2 its not compatable YET

Posted same time as Chevalier maybe your german/english mix is causing problems

thx for the fast replies

the german/english mix usually works fine (especially since TDD converts the game COMPLETELY into english)

i did a manual installation. the files for the big mods are the files i downloaded from King Diamond's signature.
your appended manual is depricated since it only covers tdd 103, i actually have 105, same for sos, weidu ease etc ....
and in the new files there is no bdash included, thus i have to install it individually
i used this routine http://www.shsforums...40, since i got the hint i have to use both, the manual and the info from this thread.
remains the question: what is the CORRECT WAY to install the mods ? there's still no UP-TO-DATE-manual out there

Well if you install using the WeiDU versions of the mods, then there is no way that BP161 will work. I think that is screwing up your chitin.key so you can't install any mods on top of that. If you remove BP161 you should be able to install in any order, except that you should keep the order with those that have no errors.

ok, now i'm confused. :(
WHAT is the big picture then ? i thought it is a mod with its own quest etc, that is able to merge tdd etc ?

if not, and it's only a merging mod, then what's the difference between using BP and its appropriate tdd/sos etc versions and using the weidu tdd etc versions ?

Original BP was designed to keep the installation of such non-weidu mods like TDD, SoS, TS [=core] working...another parts [=not core] were NeJ, CtB...also there was installation with BGT non-weidu with DSotSC....every possible combination was different in installation than the others...just imagine that non-weidu mods just not puts their entries into files, but delete those files and replaces it by their own...so each and every mod from BP core would overwrite the earlier installed. BP was the complex solution of that problem. It also had some tweak components that almost everyone enjoyed-parts of Tactics, and almost (?) whole Ascension. Nowadays u don't need BP to work all that mods together...nw u just install them in proper order...then install Tactics, Imp. Battles, Ascension etc. and u almost got the same thiing-but more stable, and less buggy.

If you want BP-weidu then you will have to wait, it is still in testing phase.

I want to install the four big mods (SOS, TDD, CTB and TS) on my BG2 ToB installation. And since they're Weidu, I don't really need BP anymore apparently. I found this somewhere on the forums regarding the installation order:

1) ToB+offic. patch
2) BDash-WeiDU (or G3 fixpack).
3) SoS v1.05/TDD v1.05/next BGT-WeiDU version (when available) - in any order
4) CtB-TDD fix for TDD v1.05
5) CtB v1.6
6) TS-BP v6.04 (it doesn't like CtB to be installed after wink.gif )
7) Deactivate (uninstall) GUI-switcher - choose "Original SoA/ToB" item.
8) Install ANY other mods you want here (hope they're truly WeiDU and don't ruin anything)
9) Worldmap v4
10) Fixes for SoS, TDD, TS-BP
11) If you want you may activate preferable GUI at this point:
- run GUI-switcher once to activate automatically GUI of the last mod from SoS/TDD/SoS/BGT/CtB set;
- run it again to choose manually necessary GUI.

I have a few questions:
* I don't want to play BG1 so I am not going to use BGT. Is this a problem?
* Because I don't use BGT, do I still need to install Worldmap v4?
* I want to install some other weidu mods: Ascension, Redemption, Freedom's Reign/Reign of Virtue, Ease of Use, Item Upgrade, Spell-50 and maybe some others. Is any of these going to cause a problem? Should I install them at step 8?
* What exactly is meant by "Fixes for SoS, TDD, TS-BP"?

No.

Yes, you still need the Worldmap v4.

Should not be problems, except for Ease of Use (some components don't work, so be careful what components you install if you use that). Step 8 is a good place to install them.

* What exactly is meant by "Fixes for SoS, TDD, TS-BP"?

If you look in the directories in the mirrors, you will see a number of archives that have "Fix" somewhere in the filename. They are the fixes.

Thanks a bunch :D With Ease-of-use, can you tell me what components not to install specifically?

Multiple strongholds, some fixes, additional merchants (?)-all that are high risks components. U don't need also XP Cap remover as the TDD handles that..the same thing with true grandmastery. Item stacking etc. shouldn't affect stability. The maximum I always install are: grandmastery for multiclass fighters, Female Edwina and balanced shapeshifter. U should watch out also certain tactics components which might mess up with TDD.

damned - i already installed most of ease :-( (but only the bonus merchants are mentioned as critical ones)
just hope it works out.

i got another problem: after a successfull install routine (with the correct order) i was able to start (puh) and i was able to load a save game without crashes (of course the classes got messed up since the new tdd is much slimmer).
but when i wanted to create a tdd-kit character i realized that the kits got messed up (a sellsword who cannot use 2-handed sword ??)
so i reinstalled that component from the tdd-setup which resulted in all weidu mods being uninstalled and reinstalled again. now the kits work again. then i checked weidu log and now i'm concerned: in the installation routine it is highly recommended to install sos/tdd-fixes in the END. if i check weidu log it states that the order is:
-bdash
-sos
-tdd
-sos fix !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-freedom/reign
-other weidus
-tdd fix

:woot:

does this mean i have to start over again ????????????? :crying:

i did not install worldmap v4 (i thought it was only required for CtB...)
is it necessary if i only have sos and tdd ? if yes, can i simply install it as the last install or do i have to start over again ? what is worldmap v4 and where can i download it ?

PS: i'm still not sure if this is the right forum section to post, so sorry if i messed up (again). but at least here i get listened to.

PPS: i did a LITTLE bit modding: minsc is now a half-orc berserker (i think with his original stats he's your run of the mill halforc berserker and in NO WAY a ranger due to his low wisdom). i included a picture of the iwd-halforc, modified to carry boo on his shoulders. the pics are in my portrait folder, not sure where you have to put them in. the minsc files are for the override folder. these files are tested :-)
i also edited sarevok (for those who use tdd-kits: since he's at heart a mercenary i kitted him to a sellsword including his deathbringer ability). tested too

Hehehe, nice work :]
About fixes-they should be not "at the end" but "after BP core"...as u see ur fixes ARE after TDD&SoS so there is nothing wrong with that-however from my knowledge-reinstalling often couses dialog problems (wrong entries, lost entries, etc)-especially if lots of mods was installed.
U should use the Worldmap becausesome new mods don't update BG2 worldmap and NEED BP-Worldmap to be installed. Not installing that should not cause CTD's or something, but u will be unable to go certain locations.

So, what exactly is a no-no with ease of use? No bonusmerchants? Can anyone tell me why that is?

Another few questions about this :) Other weidu mods that add merchants, are they compatible? Is the mentioned G3 fixpack the same as the G3 tweaks? Can it be used in conjunction with Baldurdash Weidu 1.5?
Much obliged :)

There is no problem with the merchants, however some mods restores the .STO that were designed and never used in normal game, and such component in EoU might cause problems with some mods.
Multistronghold almost always cause many issues, also some other tweaks might cause problems with certain mods. That's why EoU is rather not friendly with Big Picture mods :] G3 Tweaks could be installed, but hey, remember that: don't install worldmap fixes.
BP-BGT-Worldmap v4 can be installed at the top of game, but in this moment old savegames won't work perfectly.

Thanks for the answers! Your mirror is faster btw so I am using that now :) Some questions left unanswered:
Is the G3 fixpack=G3 Tweaks.
Can I install the G3 stuff and install Balderdash Weidu 1.5 in the same install?
Thanks!
