I tried installing TDD-WeiDU last night, but...

I received an error saying SETUP~11.TP2 not found, yet when continued it says it installed completely. The TDD .debug also states complete installation. I'm, however, left with a SETUP~11.DEBUG file and several folders. The DEBUG follows.

**************

If you will find out why your OS (and WeiDU in that way) uses short (8.3 = F:\BLACKI~1\BGT100B3\SETUP~11.EXE instead of smth like D:\Games\Black Isle\Full\Setup-TDD.exe) file names you will find a source of the problem.

I managed to install the following last night on my Windows 98 OS:

Bdash
TDD
BGT
DSotSC
World Map
TDD fix 6

Ascension, your new installer worked fine every time I ran it (including on some installs I screwed up in other mods) (with a soft drink). I checked the above installation success after Bdash, TDD, BGT and TDD fix 6 were run, and I was able to start a new game at each step.

TDD could use a lesson from you, however. The install does not clean up the folders. Remember the "Invalid switch - /S" problem with 099b1/b2 and 95/98/ME? TDD appears to have the same problem, and left me with the following extra folders:

DLGCSH
TDD-ARE
TDD-BAM
TDD-BCS
TDD-CRE
TDD-DLG
TDD-ITM
TDD-MOS
TDD-RULE
TDD-SFX
TDD-SPL
TDD-STO
TDD-TIS1
TDD-TIS2
TDD-TIS3
TDD-TIS4
TDD-WAV

I was also left with a SETUP-~3.DEBUG file, which follows:

This leaves me with another question. Other than for uninstall purposes, do the folders and exe/tp2 files for the mods necessary in the game directory, or can they be removed? :whistling:

(I hope this isn't a duplicate post - my first try didn't seem to work...)

** ERROR ** [SETUP~11.TP2] not found.

Are you running the file from DOS? Maybe it is better to run it from the Win98 folder view, because DOS will forcefully truncate, which is horrible.

Is that the only problem? That shouldn't be too bad.

@KD: Use an external batch deldir.bat for removing directories:
VER |find /i "Windows 95" > NUL
IF NOT ERRORLEVEL 1 GOTO OLDDEL

VER |find /i "Windows 98" > NUL
IF NOT ERRORLEVEL 1 GOTO OLDDEL

VER |find /i "Windows Millennium" > NUL
IF NOT ERRORLEVEL 1 GOTO OLDDEL

VER | find "NT" > nul
IF %errorlevel% EQU 0 GOTO OLDDEL

VER | find "XP" > nul
IF %errorlevel% EQU 0 GOTO NEWDEL

VER | find "2000" > nul
IF %errorlevel% EQU 0 GOTO NEWDEL

:NEWDEL
rd /s /q %1
GOTO ENDDEL

:OLDDEL
deltree /y %1
GOTO ENDDEL

:ENDDEL

...and call them in TDD_TISBIFF.BAT
call BGT\Install\deldir <directory>

I was also left with a SETUP-~3.DEBUG file, which follows:

Looks like the GUI setup DEBUG. Its very hard to track down 8+3 filenames, except you can't do much about it with the Win98 DOS

This leaves me with another question. Other than for uninstall purposes, do the folders and exe/tp2 files for the mods necessary in the game directory, or can they be removed? :whistling:

If you remove them, you can't uninstall...

Ascension, I run all my installs from the Windows Explorer window, no matter which OS I'm using. I've no explanation for the truncation, unless it has something to do with WeiDU and the 98 OS. But I'm only guessing.

As for the rest... The switch problem was just FYI. And since everything appears to be working fine, I wasn't too worried about the DEBUG (it does end with a successful installation after all).

And thanks for the folder/file information. I thought such, but wanted to be sure. :new_thumbs:

So you were eventually able to install TDD-WeiDU?

It would appear so, though I haven't been able play it yet. I've been able to start a new game with all TDD kits available, so maybe this weekend I'll be able find out more.

If I have any problems, I'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks. :cookie:
