1. by "fresh" do you mean completely unleased before? or the latest versions of the current mods..., cause im not using any *new* mods, just the latest released versions of well known and played ones

By fresh I mean... er... something like mod size X time it has been out, and "use your own good sense", for example I think a new version of Tashia is to come out, I surely wont try for say.. 2-3 months or so, just to be on the safe side, cause it has been a lot of time since Tashia was last released, but Tashia is a small mod.

I think TS/BP/TDD/SoS current versions are ok, most of the other *larger* mods I've not been following, and I've not finsihed CtB so far. But all of them are a "work in progress" since the day they were released, that's their nature due to their sizes, its just too many things to make sure that none of them will cause a problem here or there, I can almost guarantee to you that the next version of BP that Horred puts out will have some bugs, both of install nature and inside the game nature.

The problem you encountered in SoS, I remember it being adressed as "a multiplayer problem and we cant really solve it", waaay back in the day :)

Again there should be a bible of "to do and not to do" when installing mods, a lot of people have their installs down the hole cause of simple mistakes, that they dont know about cause they havent been in these boards for ages, and are not in top mod condition like me

Edit: To zachD

Remorhaz walking speed seems nasty, it even modifies the .exe, though I've never tried this one

Also you've Multiple Strongholds, isnt TS supposed to cause other multiple strongholds mods to not function proper?

Yeah I hear ya.

I am not touching anything that is "fresh".....

And yes I saw that about the multiple strongholds, after I installed it (and probably before). I was having problems getting the Planar Sphere as a stronghold after finishing the De'Arnise keep, but at the time didnt know that Lavok's dialog was broken. So in my newbness I installed the multiple strongholds pack since it seemed I couldnt get more then one, which was wrong.

So now I know it is supposed to cause problems. Should I just uninstall that part of the tweakpack? Was wondering about that.

Incidently just got past my impass in Soubar, apparently it was an in game timing problem. If I zoned into drill area to SW of Soubar too late in the daytime the drill instructor/s leaves and doesnt reappear. If I zone in earlier in the daytime they are there and work properly.

Pretty sure ive seen the Remoraz walking speed thingy on all the WeiDu logs of people with stutter problems. No idea if that means anything.

Uninstalling can also be a problem :D

Weidu does things like that:

Pretend thats a weidu log

Mod A
Mod B
Mod C
Mod D
Mod E
Mod F
Mod G

If you want to uninstall mod C, weidu will remove everything from bottom to top (mods G/F/E/D until it reaches mod C, cause weidu must "match" the state the game was when you first installed mod C, and after that weidu will reinstall every other mod it has removed from botton to top, in its way to mod C.

If you already have a saved game where you have found stuff from a mod "uninstalled and reinstalled" by weidu in this fashion, on its way to mod C, the contents can become badly damaged, so overall you should avoid removing things that are "more to the top" of weidu log, unless you plan on starting a new game.

I dunno if multiple strongholds can cause any serious issue, and I doubt it.

Mentioned that mod who modifies the .exe cause I dunno if it "replaces" or "patches" the .exe . I would assume it replaces. I have already seem other stuff that needed to replace the exe.

I dunno if it was an older version of CtB or other mod, but one of the mods had issues with the exe. I dunno if today it still has, I would assume it doesnt and that they have found a workaround for replacing the exe.

But just to point out how a thing that messes with the .exe can be very dangerous, just imagine if 2 different mods feel like replacing the exe, and one doesnt even has a big WARNING about that.

Hahah figures.

Luckily it was the last thing I put on, more as an afterthought because of the Lavok problem, after which I started a new game.

So will uninstall it anyways. Seems I am learning my way through the bugs and how to deal with them/avoid them, so not really afraid of losing current game again, though I doubt that will happen.

Stutter update:

Last night I managed to kill Sureblade but had most of party die in process. After gathering two bags of holding onto the one remaining PC and stuffing those bags with everything that all 5 characters had been carrying, ye old stutter was back in effect and quite obvious.

So it appears that it is also present in my singleplayer game but seemingly to a lesser degree, and still somehow tied to container use at this point.

Reloaded a save game from a slightly earlier point that im using now. Long as those two bags of holding dont have 40+ items each in them the stutter isnt very perceptible.

Enter Chap3, stutter is back in full effect.

It was becoming more noticeable yesterday while playing through some SoS and TDD content. Soon as I got into chap3 today I could visually see it was worse after coming out of the starting cutscene.

Have dropped most of my containers, doesnt seem to be having much affect.

on the container issue: i noticed that Azazello posted over at PPG that he was having game lag issues with containers. unfortunately, he has neither a solution nor a diagnosis: i'm starting to think that the container-lag issue is just dumb luck (or lack thereof).

Well, have a hard time believing it would be luck related, since every install ive had stutter on has been after I installed and started playing BP.

Obviously it has been around for a while and has a number of possible sources/origins.

Miraz's latest posts seem to indicate some kind of intrinsic problem withen the baldur.bcs.

Think I may try playing without SoS on next install, since I am pretty much done that content.

Well, in my new install I went through NEJ and no problem with stutter. Even carried a few thousand arrows to check impact. Also picked up boots of speed, and no effect. OK, finally got out of Chateau Irenicus and saw some slowdown leaving Waukeens Promenade. However, once I entered Slums game got very slow, really slow. Like a slow spell on whole party. In a stutter characters move and stop and move again, but here everybody moved sloooow. Had the exact same items and bag of holding that I carried through NEJ with no problem. It's like a bunch of triggers/checks are being run at the same time in that area. Now I haven't gone to TDD/SOS/ROT content but will try to do some quests in other areas to see if it starts up.

Went to the docks and city gates and seems ok. I wondered if these checks all hit at once because game says I'm 12 days in but just got to Slums/copper coronet.

I don't think its anything related to containers, I have the Make Bags of Holding Bottomless from g3 tweaks (it makes all containers have unlimited space), and I carry 4 scroll cases - one for each color of magic - blue, red and white, and another for notes, messages, maps and etc.

Have an ammo belt, a potion case, two gem bags (one for jewelry that I'll sell, other for the ones I'll keep for now)

And I have a bag of holding as well :)

However, I must at least say that the baldur.bcs is heavily edited here, I removed every item check that I could from it a month ago, when I started my actual play, and I tried to organize most checks to run as fast as possible (IE: putting the variable that is most likely to be invalid, at the top), I also changed some other script checks, like the "CbDearPrudence" check on most areas, for example.

Anyway, must also confess that I don't have BP in this actual install, there are some other mods that I wanted to add before actually adding BP B)

I'll probably add BP on my next game, hopefully there will be a new release until then (my games do tend to take months to finish ^_^ )

Well, I dont think its the containers causing the stutter problem, but they can definitely make it worse, in my case anyways.

Once im into chap3 doesnt matter how many containers I have, even with none I still get a considerable stutter. Its quite annoying I assure you. Think will try an install without SoS.
