Orthodoxia, the last one was cool! (well, not unlike the rest ) I just wondered, looking at it, that it reminded me very much of someone. Do you, by any chance, know Vash the Stampede?

Vash the Stampede? No, I can't say that I did.

This image got stuck in my head when first this challenge was issued but only recently i got around to actually draw it. It was more a try for me to experiment with different pose and face expressions. I don't think he turned out too bad

finally done. not my greatest ones and my scan cut off the top of Xan's head in one but....here they are. First one Xan is stealing a glance over at the woman he is begining to fall in love with. Second one, Menelanna is grieving over the death of her lover Xan and is unaware that his spirit is still watching over her and still worried.

Hay peeps! This challenge has been on fiiiire! We've seen some fantastic entries - I knew Xan would be a popular guy. You still have a little over a day or so to participate or post entries to get to the statistics - but of course you are more than welcome to post Xan stuff here after the deadline, too.

Gah! This one took *way* too long for my liking. And it didn't turn out as good as I would have liked it too. The sketch was much more pretty, I think.

I really like how the folds where she is pulling at his robe turned out. Especially at the shoulder. I had to pull at my own shirt and use that as reference, for that.


Well, at least I finally got to solidify my idea of what Xan's face looks like a little.


Oh, and this is at the end when Noriko has made her choice. Remember that Xan is walking away with his hands on his ears? Now guess what she chose. *grins*

Though of course, any other time she would glomp him would be similar.

Heheh. I remember, I had to prod SisterVigilante into writing this one(he was writing the core path for non-bonded ToB romance), because he didn't want to add a reaction at first.

I think I like the colored one more - it feels like a still shot from a moving cartoon, as if someone clicked "Pause", and they are about to spring into life again. (Though... green eyes? )

I'm glad you like it. I have to say, I actually do like the scanned version a little better than the real piece. It somehow managed to clarify the lines a little. And of course, in the paper version there's still some nasty smudges on the paper around the picture, which distract from the actual picture (yes, I've been found out ). It gives the whole picture a cleaner appearance.

As about the green eyes...ehehe *scratches head*... I didn't know which eye colour Xan has. I didn't want to give yet another drawing grey eyes (which has kind of become my default. I have grey eyes myself. But it's not good to give them to every character around, because that colour is actually one of the less common ones. But somewhere I saw that Imoen actually *does* have grey eyes). So I looked through the pictures here, and the only one where you could recognise the eye colour was Orthodoxia's second one. And in that one he had green eyes.

I can't remeber if his eye colour was ever mentioned. I don't think it could be recognised in his portrait, either.

As for the portrait, I've been looking at the banner and they do look somewhat dark-greyish, somehow.

I'm slowly starting to feel sorry for poor Xan here. He's been thoroughly harassed by various PCs in this challenge

I know elves are famous for having outstanding eye colors, but I just couldn't type "liquid black" or "amber" or whatever. Silly me. I had been rereading the dialogues from the mod just yesterday (in fact, the Infinity Explorer is still open as I write this), so I should have realised that. I only coloured in the eyes this morning.

Oh well, now it is too late to change.

Oh, and I'm glad you didn't type "liquid black" or "Amber". While Amber doesn't sound as bad as "liquid black" (personally I find the idea of pure black eyes pretty boring. That eye colour doesn't even exist, actually. It's just that very dark brown eyes can look black. Unless of course one has that eye condition where one has no iris, and thus only a very huge pupil [those people can only see very, very fuzzy. And as far as I know, there's not much medicine can do about this]. Anyway, pure black is a bit boring. Even the dark brown ones have some variation in them), I can't imagine him with Amber eyes, really.

Ohhhh my god, this thread is full of awesome. (Half-naked Xan in boardshorts? HELL YES.) Also, I really loved how you did Xan's costume in the silent post-deification-type comic, Orthodoxia. Cape = yes.

Actually, it's been really fun looking at how everyone's done his costume slightly differently.

Ilmatar reminded me the challenge is closing, and I meant to have a dozen or so entries done, but - blessed thesis [which, ironically, is on Baldur's Gate...] and assessments and whatnot have been driving me insane. Enough rambling. Warning: IMGSPAM.


Rush #1! I haven't seen anyone else reference this, so I don't know if it's a joke Everyone Is So Over already or what, but - really, Xan's lines in the tutorial for BG2?
I have a friggin' savegame just before he delivers those lines. [Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but - doesn't his Enchanter class mean he CAN'T cast Flame Arrow to begin with?! Fear the power of Xan's Flame Arrow Scroll. <3]

Ahem. Xan in the dark is marvellous. The skull cracked me up.
The comic is fun - great fun, with all these facial expressions. (And, yes, in the game Xan can cast Flame Arrow, since it belongs to a different school). In short, this post = a great present.

(BG1 NPC Project - Xan Romance? Me and Domi, and there's a cool fanfic based on it, too. )
