I wonder if it would be possible to zip somebodies entire BG1+2 folder with the mega mod install and put that up for download ?

its really confusing and time consuming researching, finding, downloading, installing the mega mod install...

think i'm done on my 3rd time install of the mega mod in the past 2 years... but im sure even more people would use the mega mod if it was as simple as 1 downloaded folder hehe

Been discussed many times. Pity there's no unique keyword(s) to search on.

Gotta work if you want to play the MegaInstall. Stickies are always a nice place to start your efforts.

I really think some kind of file bundle would definetly work, and a re-write to the instructions, and then a clean up to out-dated guides...

think i got mine working again... but i remember last time i tried to install the mega install it took me about 8 hours across 3 days of uninstall/reinstall and downloading etc lol

If you think so, then initiate and contribute an effort yourself.

Start with the "outdated" guides -- thats' the easy part -- then the instructions. The bundle may be a challenge, but "I'm sure" you'll be able to handle it. Many players would appreciate the effort.

You'll probably have to register first to get things started.

i actually considered it a few times.. don't think im very good at writing guides though maybe i'll write one tonight.. because i saw on a different forums about some game talk with BG, so i showed them the link to the mods and was going to write a simplified instructions so they could download and install the mega mod...

i would link directly to each download place and skip the reign of terror charecter kits and just take the TDD ones.. because that part would confuse the shit into a lot of people i think... hmm :P

I also thought this might be a nice way to solve some installation issues. But what about the whole registry thing? Not to mention the simple size of such a download :whistling:

Must be some 10+gigs :woot:

well, the registry thing would't be hard to fix i think, but would be illegal

but a better idea would be to make a rar file of all the required mod's for a basic mega mod install.

instead of leaving people to find it theirselves, thats one the annoying parts..

i have a lot of friends who loved BG and i always show them this site, but they are scared away by the huge installation instructions..

anyway , im trying to get round to writing what i would call "Basic installation guide for mega mod" and in that guide i'll link directly to each file they need...

will post it on this site, maybe you guys will want to use it... im making it primarly to help my friends out with installin it

Well, one kinda solution would be to make a huge single download file that would hold all the compadle files in it. It would just ask whether to install what a component or not and then proside to the next component.

Or one could build a reverse WEIDU.TP2 constructor that would check what files you have on your BG dir and then put them to the right order with the .tp2 after with you would have to push only one exe and it would install all of them.(of course there are few losses suffered cause of this, but... )

One of the best threads that did this already: http://www.shsforums...showtopic=19826
You can get some ideas from there.

Also take note that there are mirrors available for some mods, and that a few of the mirrors are restricted to world location.
