Hi Again!
I haven't had the opportunity, as yet, to post my WEIDU log, though I'll do that tomorrow. In the meantime, I wanted to say that I've tried once again to do a megamod-install of BG2(without the buggy Big Picture but with Tactics etc.) and, as before, I got the standard bug where my PC would crash the game if I went too far towards the left in the Check-The-Bodies CandleKeep prologue(or too far towards the left of the genie who appears in the crystal-filled room in Irenicus' Dungeon). I did check it mid-install, and found that the bigger mods(ie SOS/TDD/TS/CTB/ROT) weren't to blame, and neither were the spell-altering mods, character-kit mods or increased-banter mods. So it must have been due to the smaller adventure mods I installed later(such as Improved Battles etc.), though some mods have been so incredibly stable in previous BG2 games I played years ago,(such as Tactics), that it can't be them. I'm hoping the bug's not due to an essential mod such as the BGT worldmap etc.
Anyway, I'll undoubtedly reinstall everything - and this time I'll have to laboriously check the game, after every minor, not-yet-verified mod, to find out when the bug exactly appears. I should add that, this time, I have only installed the Improved Ilyich component of Tactics and a mod putting magic items from Bg1 into Irenicus' Dungeon and haven't installed any other Irenicus-Dungeon-altering mods such as the Slightly-Improved Ilyich mod etc. - though perhaps the Dryad-Acorn quest introduced by the DOTQuest mod might possibly be an issue.
In the meantime, can anyone give me an idea as to the most likely reason I'm getting this bug? What sort of basic error usually leads to a Crash-To-Desktop when one enters a given area of the game?

If you're going to re-install anyway, then you've got the best chance of determining what's causing the crash.
You should know this advice already, it's been given to you before:
-- make sure you do a completely fresh install: delete the entire game folder, saving only what you think you might need later. I usually keep baldur.ini, key.ini, and the save folder (but YOU will NOT being using this in your new installation, but you can save it to some other place.)
-- make sure you have the latest version of EVERY mod you're going to use. You may like a previous version for this-or-that reason, but until you can pinpoint your error, go with what works.
-- do a FULL install of BG2 (and BG1, if you're going to use BGT)
Now for troubleshooting...
(1) Just install CtB and CtB-Chores(-FastForward). No g3Fixpack, no other mod. Start game, check for crash. If you get one at this stage, something's seriously fcuk'ed up.
(2) Unstall previous mods from (1). Install g3Fixpack, CtB and CtB-Chores(-FF). No other mod. Start game, check for crash. If you get one at this stage, then something's kooky with the mod combination. The Community can try to pinpoint this.
(3) If things are still good, then you've gotten to the fun part.
- Unstall previous mods from (2)
- Install g3Fixpack.
- Install all the mods that you want to use, in the "approved" Mega-Install order, but STOP after you've installed CtB-Chores(-FF). For example, SoS-TDD-CtB-CtB-Chores(-FF).
- Check for crash. If you get one at this stage, then again the Community can help.
(4) If all is still good, then continue installing whatever mods you're going to use, one at a time, and then test for a crash after each mod is installed.
- Use the install order you used before BUT try to follow the "approved" Mega-Install order if possible.
- At whatever point you get to the crash, don't install any more mods, and report back here which mod that last one was.

Well, I reinstalled twice. The first time, I found that the "AZENmod" was the one responsible for a constant CTD that happened when I tried to load a new game. After removing that mod, I went through the game, checking every 3rd mod or so, as usual, and only encountered the other standard CTD bug(re moving to the left of the screen and CTDing) once I'd installed every mod but three - so it's either the Bigg-Tweak mod or the End-biffer mod or the BGT-Worldmap mod, which is responsible. I'm 99% certain that the bug is due to the end-biffer mod as it causes the most changes of those 3 mods - which is incredibly annoying since I'd originally installed it to avoid a previous slowdown with other mods installed..
Anyway, here is my WEIDU log. I'll try again tomorrow or the day after - if that works without the bug, I'll post the resulting WEIDU logfile.
