I personally loathe the low XP gained in BG2. This usually means that mages have to continuously rest after very single major battle, in order to regain their spells, which is somewhat unrealistic and seems like cheating.

Thanks for pointing this out. I think I'll try it in my next BG2 game. At the moment, the known issues mentioned in the readme(re possible "slowdown" and having to use player-AI etc.) put me off. My present compromise is to have all my 6 characters as triple-classed F/M/Ts or F/M/Cls with at least two being Wild-Magic specialists as well. That way, as high levels are reached, provided that there are enough spells that the caster can cast(via the wearing of various magical rings etc.), sooner or later the caster gets a standard wild-surge effect where all the wild-mages' spells are instantly regained - this worked for me, in the past. Right now, what primarily concerns me is that in the Planar Sphere mod, there is supposed to be an ueber-villain who simply cannot be beaten until he runs out of spells - presumably, if I install this mod, then all enemy NPCs would be similiarly affected, in which case this villain would never run out of spells, and I'd always lose the battle. Also, the readme states that some enemy spellcasters might not be able to use this new feature due to different scripts, in which case my party would become too powerful, in this case.

What would be great is if one could have a "mana" system of spellcasting whereby you have so many magic-points(which would very slowly be regained over time, with all mana points being fully regained after an 8-hour rest ), so that you can keep on casting any spell continuously, like a sorcerer, using up , say, 1 mana point per spell-level of each spell until you eventually run out of all mana/magic-points. One could ensure that each spellcaster has enough mana points to be able to potentially cast all his spells 3-4 times over, before having to wait a full 8 hours to get them all back again(this is assuming that he didn't cast any spells during that time). The mana points of each PC/NPC would be increased at each XP-level gained. I believe this system was used for the Krynn/DragonLance campaign of the AD&D off-line game.
