Me and my friend are trying to play LAN and it's not going too well. He can host games but I cannot. I can't join his game because it says my player name is refused by the server. Is there anyway we can just play LAN.

Free virtual networking. Helps if you can't get stuff working, or if you want to play over the 'nets.

You can try disconnecting from the internet while playing on LAN.
