After god knows how many rumours, here we are:

http://www.swtor.com/

Bioware and LucasArts on a new Star Wars MMO.

They better get it right.

Meh, they released information because they didn't notice the umpteen 50-page long threads over at BioWare off-topic.

Looking at the FAQ, it seems to me like there will be a monthly cost.

Crap.

On the other hand, it doesn't say so black on white, so I hope I'm wrong.

Revan never returned from unknown space

Well. It's over then, I guess. I did hope to see him again. Too bad.
Good thing it's a MMO, and since I prefer singleplayer campaigns I won't miss anything interesting to me. Still bad with Revan

If this involves a monthy fee, then I'm not even gonna bother.
I'm curious though about new, original things. The whole Sith vs Republic thing was to be expected. I hope for something entirely new and exciting.

MMO with a monthly fee? Play with other people and pay for it?

No way.

Looked pretty cool until I realized it was a "MMO"... Bleh, MMOs are evil, they draw you in and eat you alive... :(
I guess Revan, Bao Dur, Carth, the Exile, Mission Atton, and all the rest will just have to live on in our hearts...
(gosh, how corny did *that* sound!...)

Choose to be a Jedi, a Sith, or from a variety of other classic Star Wars roles...

I quit playing MMOs altogether this year, as I just got fed up with the whole play-less-than-10-hours-a-day-and-you-lose theme (buh-bye Warhammer: Age of Reckoning). What that means is that I won't be playing this one either.

I wasn't surprised to see BioWare going this route, but I can't help but feel a little sad when I see them launching a MMO.

Anyone want to guess if we ever get KotOR 3? I bet not. It's just going to be more MMO expansions instead.

Edit: Typo(s).

Meh. I have my MMO crack of choice already, no need to add to it. EA is the kiss of death to game series.

I kinda wish Bioware would focus their resources on something original, rather than a somewhat trite franchise which is aging a little now. Also, um, aren't MMOs generally very high risk, given the amount of time and money invested on both sides and the huge amount of competition? Not sure how helpful yet another Star Wars MMO is going to be for Bioware's profits.

Although, I'm glad they're notv working on KotoR III, I always thought KotOR I played ot too safe with Star Wars canon, KotOR II was much more interesting (and had the fanboys screaming in anger  ) I'd prefer if obsidian did KotOR III.

Another lame MMO that will fail. Its going to ruin the Kotor era as well. Good job LA and Bioware.

I won't judge any game before it ships. The problem, though, with MMOs is...other players. I had a blast for 7 years in UO but you still have to be pretty tolerant. I have to say I am a much calmer person for quitting (though I was running a guild, and that is pretty stressful for most of the time).
Still, I do wonder at all the lolkiddies running around - it would rather kill the atmos unless you can find a nice RP server where immersion is easier to achieve. I dunno though. I said I'd try Age of Conan, and never did. Perhaps my MMO days are past.

Sad, but true. I rarely play anything but single player anymore. (Hell, I had a hard time when I used to play Diablo II on Battlenet because there were so many idiots. Blergh.)

I'm quite pissed at the fact it seems we'll never know what happens. I would prefer Bioware to do Kotor 3 only because obsidian did a piss poor job with the ending of 2. It pissed me off so badly.

To each his own, I guess. I liked Dreamfall's ending **a lot** more than KotOR 2's, and disagree with Choo Choo.

At least with Dreamfall, there still is some hope. Warning, Spoilers ahead.
Spoiler
How do I know this? Well, the end of The Longest Journey showed me that they all lived happily ever after.

On the other hand, we have KotOR 2. No closing movie, no epilogue, nada, nothing, zilch, rien. All we know is that Revan and the Exile ultimately disappear off the face of the Galaxy and are never heard from again, while their friends and loved ones remain behind to grieve for their loss. How can you top that depressing-wise?

But of course, that's just me. :)
