Hey. I had problems in bg1 and bg2 for a very long time with the game stoping every few seconds, etc. I solved it by turning off DirectDraw and Direct3d acceleration in dxdiag. Now i am wondering if anyone knows why it comes to that and if there is a way to go around without turning those options off. I belive game would look nicer with those options on, but gameplay is impossible without it.

And my spec. currently is E6400, 2gb of ram and 7950GT on winxp SP3. I tried playing it on different operation systems and configurations, like gf2mx on windows 98, gf4mx 440 and gf4 4200 on xp. Same problem and same solution. Soo again, why does it come to that and is there a way around it ?

Is 7950GT a Series 8 card? Try suggestions in bigg's thread: IE games and NVidia Series 8 video cards

Did you mod your video drivers (e.g. Omega)? Even if you didn't, you might need to up-version, or downgrade!, your current drivers. (I had to use an earlier version of drivers on my game machine).

Rarely are changes to DirectWhatever needed. Have you tried running a game with zero mods installed?

Did you turn the Ambient sounds off? From the BGConfig.exe ...

I made my post about NV8xxx cards because that's what I have available for testing. I have seen reports of similar problems on lots of different cards though (all NVidia since 6xxx, and some about Ati 4xxx as well).
