Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but anyway...

I am looking to replay BGII; I'd like to use a few mod though.

I have this list of mods I would like to install:

BG2 Fixpack (obviously)
Ascensions
Auren...
G3 Tweakpack
Questpack
de'Arnise romance
eSeries
npcdamage
Romantic Encounters
Item Upgrade
Underrepresented Items
IEP Banters
Unfinished Business
IEP Yoshimo Friendship
IEP Mazzy Friendship
IEP Viconia Friendship
Assassinations
Turnabout
Amber
Banterpack
Crossmod banter pack
D0Tweak
Divine Remix
Kivan
Oversight
Refinements
Song and Silence
Tactics/SCSII
Wheels of Prophecy
Freedom's ROV
Ashes of Embers
NPCFlirt
Virtue.

So, I would really appreciate any advice on installing these. Any compatability issues and installation order etc.

Are there any that are unnecessary (included in another mod or something)?

I have tried to do a bit of research and figure it out myself but it's a lot to take in. I have read that it is best to install Fixpack first - unless you install Ascension (which should go first?).

I think Ascension and maybe another both have improved bosses - which version is best to install? In the readme of Ascension it says Illera (sp) is "widely regarded as being insanely difficult" maybe just install the "Ascension" component and not the improved bosses?

I want to install either tactics or SCSII - tactics is pretty old now so I don't know about compatability - SCSII also seems better apart from a few parts of Tactics I wanted (improved Illyich etc.). Any advice on this? Could I just install those parts of tactics I want and SCSII after?

Thanks if you read all that - I really appreciate any help - been researching how to install mods for 3/4 days now and I just want to play the game .

Maybe you should just give Big World Project a try. It does all the work for you :) .

I think this was answered over at BioWare.

Yeah, well, no real matter, just say that you have, so you don't confuse people. :)

Yes please, because I answered your question at G3. <_<

A Megamod does not mean that you can play all of the mods or all of their content,
but you have more choices or paths through the game.

To be able to install *mod*, you must copy the file worldmap.wmp immediately before installation
of the mod from the folder BiG World Fixpack into the override folder.

it means, that I must copy file worldmap.wmp from the folder BigWorld FxiPackV7\_override\ into my BGT\override\?

Does this mean, that I must copy file worldmap.wmp from the folder BigWorld FixPackV7\_override\ into my BGT\override\?

:whistling: Well, it's far safer just to run the automatic BWP Installer that does all the installation... meaning it runs the BiG World Fixpack automatically too.

I thought I would just update this thread rather than start a new one...

I tried manually installing those mods but after 3 or 4 tries with every time the game behaving erratically I decided to give the BWP a go.

I am pretty much doing a Standard Install - I even removed quite a few mods (mainly NPCs I don't want - also some item mods and the "mega" mods eg. TDD/SoS/CtB/TS/RoT).

My first attempt I got stuck at the very start on "[Weidu-Backup] Using scripting style "BG2"" - I looked this up and found that it's caused by outdated versions of the weidu installer (or something like that) so I deleted the setup-modname.exe that were around 3000kb and replaced with the 508kb one.

I ran the Big World Install.bat after that and it seemed to work - it ran on for quite a while - installed BGT and all the other mods up to about the de'Arnise romance (think that was the last one to install) then it stopped on "[Weidu-Backup] Using scripting style "BG""

I have restored my BG2 install to a clean version and I am getting ready to try again, I thought I would just ask here if there's anything I can to do aid the process. I don't have unlimited patience and if I can't get this to work today I'm just going to give up replaying BG (been trying to install mods and get it running well for 5 days now).

Edit: Also, for certain mods (at the end of BGT/DSotSC/NSotSC and Bone Hill) it makes me press a key to continue - this is kind of irritating as I left my pc on overnight to install and come back in the morning to find that it has only advanced maybe an hour from when I left it. Is this supposed to happen? Can't I just leave it to install?

That is because of the new widescreen mod. You should remove it's exe and widescreen folder from the game folder before the install starts, and move them back and install it after BWP is installed. I did that and had no problems.

I made a tactical install several times and since the smoothpack was introduced in BWP I didn't have to click anything, it just goes on with no intervention from beginning to the end. So maybe something is wrong with your install bat...

All I can say is that I installed a lot of versions of BWP, since the beginning of it's development, and it's truly worth it and it's a lot of fun. The last time I played a lot was in version 5.7 when I played through the whole BG1 , and a part of BG2 and I encountered very few minor bugs, so it was very stable even back then, now at version 7 you can imagine that it's even more stable :) . And since the creation of the install.bat, the BWP Fixpack, the Smoothpack and recently the great BWS, the install process became a LOT easier :) . So it's worth it to give it a go and have a little patience until you solve the installation issues and have the chance to experience the wonderful BWP world :D

Ah thanks a lot dreamer.

I tried the installation without selecting the Widescreen mod in the mod list - and it worked a treat. Just completed Candlekeep to make sure it's ok and so far so good.

Just like to thank the guys who made BWP too - fantastic program you have created here.
