Does this make sense to anyone? Totally befuddles me.

It might have some logic behind it, but wasn't completely implemented. When you kill someone out of the blue, that's pretty bad. Everyone else after that is still bad, but generally those people are trying to kill you so it's partial self defense? Doesn't seem completely thought out.

That's better than any explanation I can think of. I'm not inclined to accepting leaving it like that, though.

1) The fact that it has to be a one shot kill. If it takes you two swings, then you don't get the extra hits. That's just messed up. Why should that matter?

2) I think if you kill someone, and other people nearby attack you as a result, I have a -real- hard time describing this as self-defense. If anyone's got a right to call it self-defense, it's the people attacking you who have pretty good reason to believe you're a psychopath and will probably attack them next.

3) You can always run away. If you actually stick around to finish off the witnesses, or the cops, I'd say that counts as murder as well, heh.

The way I looked at it, crazy modrons are -more- "alive", individuals, than non-crazy modrons. If the non-crazy modrons in the brothel - ones with almost no individuality - qualify for the hits, then I figure ones that are starting to develop some individuality certainly should. And note that Nordom himself, the craziest modron, also gets alignment hits in the original game. So, either way you look at it...

Aren't modrons in the Sensorium oposed to the Rubicon dwellers behavin' more in a socially acceptable manner thus makin' tham more of NPCs than lootbags?

Please make things a little bit clearer,— what hits, if any, you get for killin' thugs in the Alley, brainwermin and say demons n' shadows?

I think I understand now. I'm not talking about the Low, Medium and High Level Constructs in Rubikon. I'm talking about the small handful of modrons and modron engineers in the area where you first appear when you use the cube. Those modrons all have dialogue, they are peaceful in all circumstances unless you initiate attack, and I don't see them as substantially different from the ones in the brothel. Do you? Or did you think I meant the constructs?

Not sure what you mean by "brainwermin", but for all the rest, I'm not planning on adding any alignment hits for them. Generally if a creature is hostile to begin with, or if they threaten you such that you can make a reasonable claim that killing them is self-defense, I don't plan on adding any hits.

A few more examples of critters that you could kill with impunity. No alignment hits for slaughtering:

20) Mebbeth, Marta and Ei-vene. Yes, I changed my mind and decided to add hits for them. There's no valid reason to kill them until you reach Ravel, and you can't kill them afterwards.

I seem to remember that you could turn Ei-vene hostile merely by backing away from her - as she begins stitching you up.
