I have a feeling my mega-mod game has a bad mod in it as I am having many problems with the game. I now am in Amn and heading for de'Arnise Hold.

This time I did not get a map from Kender. You meet him at the Amn City Gates. He talks to you and depending on the conversation, either drops a map or gives one to you. I do not get a map.

I have search the extracted mods (before they are incorporated into the game) for kender, map, and others looking for the item code. No luck.

I have forgotten the name of the area in the map. I cannot locate the mod that creates this. No new areas show up on the World Map.

Any suggestions? I am hoping that if I create the item (assuming I get the item code) I will be able to go there. Else I guess it means I skip this adventure.

Thanks for any help,

Tom

Kender gives or drops DDMAP01. Your worldmap is updated when have the map at City Gates.

Have you tried to reload before entering City Gates and do it again sometimes it helps because there are also other talkative people that might interfere.

Thanks Micbaldur.

There is a pirate that talks to you while Kender is trying to talk to you.

I have reloaded that sequence six times before I posted my request. The results were always the same.

Thanks again,

Tom

Hi Micbaldur.

That did not work so well. I tried to create DDMAP01. The reply was that it did not exist. So I went to my TDD extracted mod and found it in the ITM folder. I copied it to the override folder and created it. The problem is that it is not the map, The icon looks like a map, but the wording in it appears to be a spell named Ice Lance. It cannot be copied into a spell book.

So it is back to the drawing board. I guess another mod changed it.

I am currently at de'Arnise Hold. But I do have a save game that takes me to the City Gates for the first time. I will try that and see what happens,

Hi Micbaldur.

I got it to work. However I suspect some modder messed up the game.

I went to the City Gates again for the first time. I did not get the scroll, so I tried to create it. I got the message that DDMAP01 did not exist. Then I copied DDMAP01.ITM to the override folder. Replayed the game. This time I got a map. I opened it up and it is the Ice Lance scroll. However, I checked the World Map and Eshpurta is now accessible.

Thank you very much for the item code.

Hi tomkaz, I had the same problem a week ago but thought it was just my install. A few things-

1)The kender at city gates says it gives you an item and its not there, just as you described.

2)The mysterious salesman in 5 flagons inn doesn't show up either. No cluaing.

3)I narrowed it down to the TDD item folder, apparently not everything was biffed (that was the only folder that still had something in it). Copied all the contents to override and you shouldn't have the problem.

4)The map business with TDD is still messed up, you will have to clua a few areas after Eshpurta (I think the Troll woods?). Also I had to clua to Purskal, then it worked ok and these areas showed up on the worldmap.

I did have issue 2. It's because NEJ v6.8 probably overwrites AR0509.BCS and the Salesman doesn't spawn. Fixed locally.

I didn't have issue 1.

I don't understand issue 3 but then again i'm only player. It doesn't matter, you are probably right or then again maybe not  . I don't know. :D

I can't say anything about issue 4 i'm not there yet.

I have expert BWP 11+ install.

I check the game folders. There are seven TDD folders. They are:
TDD
TDD-BAM
TDD-BCS
TDD-CRE
TDD-DLG
TDD-ITM
TDD-SPL

In the extracted TDD mod, the folder ITM has 440 files. In the game folder TDD-ITM, there are 415 folders. The file, DDMAP01.ITM is in the TDD-ITM folder. Still CLUACONSOLE:CreateItem("DDMAP01") reports it cannot find it. SO I assume TDD-ITM folder is not connected to the game.

The Darkest Day v1.14 has not changed since 12-20-2010. I have played it without error in my last attempt a few months ago. So I suspect another Mod has altered TDD. The only mod I added since my last mega-mod game crashed was Igi's Item Mod v5. It changes a lot of stuff. I now regret adding it and I am considering starting a new game without it. With the problems I have seen so far, I am expecting many more. So I feel the current game is a waste of six weeks of my life and continuing this game will only result in more wasted time because it will eventually totally fail. But I will save it as is in case there are other comments that indicate a major fix for problems in this game. I should take me about three hours to create the new game.

My apologies to Igi.

I put another mega mod game together. Same as before except leaving Igi's Item Mod V5 out of the game. I did not run BiG World Cleanup.bat this time. Checked the problem of missing DDMAP01.ITM. This file is still missing. Therefore, Igi's Item Mod V5 is not changing TDD and should be safe to use.

I guess I will switch back to the other game and save this one for testing.

I started looking for it with shadowkeeper, it wasn't there, so tried searching for files in the BG2 folder. The only one found was in the TDD-ITM folder (not in the data or override folder, or even the biff folder). So I copied everything in that folder over to the override folder because there would problems. (that reminds me I was doing the Eshpurta quest and didn't get the Ice Plate as a reward which set off alarm bells and more searching.) Also found out when I opened a chest, etc. in the Troll caves there and there are blank things in between gems and potions like an item is missing- because it is!

So these items were just not in the game because of either a biffing or TDD install error. There was no weird item descriptions though which means the items description was actually installed just not the files.

I had exactly the same problem, and it seems to be biffing related. I installed a new trimpack (referred as borkpack) from here http://www.shsforums...attach_id=24440 and that fixed it.
Now there's cleanly only TDD folder in BG2 directory. I tested it by CLUA:ing Kender in front of Candlekeep tavern :shifty: , and indeed he dropped/gave the map.

Hi enkku. Thanks for your reply.

I have the latest borkpack, got it around 1 AM this morning. Also found several mods which had been updated since I started this game.

Max has mentioned other problems with the Kender and Esphruta. Does the latest borkpack fix the missing area problems? I hope so.

Unfortunately I am many other problems so I am starting a fresh game. One update I hope will solve many problems is BPv180C.

In my game TDD areas work just fine, however, I don't know if trimpack or latest BP will fix your issue. That been said, it is of course always good to keep your mods and fixpacks updated. Just be sure to check the corresponding threads for those mods because with mega-installs there might be quircks and/or bugs.

Just a note that the attachment you linked to is Borkpack v10.3 :P (which was kept online because DSotSC v216 wasn't out when Borkpack v11 was uploaded in this post :D)

Now since DSotSCv216 is used by default in the BWP, I'm taking down the v10.3  Please use the official BWPLinkliste for the latest links to every mod/tool in the BWP yeah? :P
