Hi all.
Is it safe to remove a mod after a successful, biffed BWP installation? I'd like to remove the Projectile Retrieval Mod, as I find it - with the utmost respect to its creator - a little annoying. As far as I know, Generalized Biffing should allow to (almost) painlessly remove unwanted mods. Am I wrong or I can safely proceed? My WeiDU.log:

Spoiler

TIA.

AFAIK, it's quite the contrary, you can't uninstall mods after you biffed them with generalized biffing.

Erhm, NO !!! The Gen Biffings read me says you can uninstall it in the chain-uninstall, unlike any of the other weidu.exe uninstall procedure that use .bat's etc(as it uses it's own code for the biffing, there's not real high chance of any of the other mods, as they need to update the biffing procedure to use the one the Gen Biffing uses).

I would say thought that you would do better to just remake the whole thing.... but you can always try uninstalling and see. And yes, you need to restart the game of course.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Uhh, I believe thebigg has repeatedly mentioned that gen_biff is uninstall safe :)

The BWP does some custom modifications in between mod installs so that's why uninstalling mods in the BWP is not recommended.

But I'll also mention that because the projectile mod is almost at the end of your install order, it should be safe to uninstall it :P

I should also mention a potential risk here - if there are any mods after the projectile mod that add dialogue or items or any kind of string to the game... your savegames will have wrong string references - meaning your Sword of Awesome +9000 may end up being called Viconia and Imoen will banter with you about turnips and old forgotten family members :D

There is a very easy way to work around this... make a backup of your dialog.tlk file before uninstalling. Once you're done and you notice wonky dialogue or item descriptions, overwrite the dialog.tlk with the one you backed up earlier ;)

Games are stupid like that

When there's trouble brewing, see me post, cuz it's usually a wall o' yellow and your eyes are toast!!!"

Thanks for the answers: I'll make a backup of my BG2 directory, store it in a fireproof strongbox and attempt to remove the mod.. In the worst case, I can definitely live with a few more arrows and bolts scattered around characters' and corpses' inventories :P
