Having some issues with my BWS.  Figured I would start from the beginning and post screenshots to figure out what's going on.

Stats:

I'm doing a 'Recommended install' but with 1PP enhanced sound quality (not sure if I need all 3?)

Here is the Archive test results:

..and the link test (i've successfully downloaded them):

Here is my download folder (with files in question highlighted)

[attachment=27662:downloads folder.JPG]

And here is the extraction folder:

[attachment=27663:extract folder 1.JPG]

[attachment=27664:extract folder 2.JPG]

the strategems_external folder is empty

I'll post more details later, but maybe this will get us started enough? :)

Thanks, and let me know if there is any more detail needed!

the strategems_external folder is empty

That's normal. It will fill in when SCS starts installing, don't worry.

Oh, and lovely mods you've chosen. :clap:

Please note that the strategems v28 file isn't present in the extracted folder...

I manually downloaded the v28 1.2zip that is showing in the downloads folder.

I guess you chose to skip files that are missing and since BG1UB is missing / cannot be loaded by the BWS, it got removed.
Since the patch for stratagems was not fetched either and the main mod wants the addition, it was likely removed, too.
So just extract those missing files into the bg2-folder and start the BiG World Install.bat after that. It should not make a difference to the batch-install.

Ok, so I can go ahead and copy strategems v28, and extract the strategems v28 v1.2 into my bg2 folder - but what about installing them?  WIll the BWS install them, or do I need to, and if I need to, do I do it first, or last, or at some other point?

Same question for BG1UB.....

Oh, and I'm pretty sure I entered 'r' for those files, to remove them.  Will that factor in to make a major difference?

Also, I re-ran the BIG world setup vbscript to go thru again for reference.  I stopped before actually downloading/extracting anything again.  Will that affect anything?

From the picture above you can see that you selected to let the BiG World Installpack handle the install (and not the BWS itself).
So how the files get extracted are not interesting for the installpack. And I'd extract all files into the folder that you want, not just the fix 1.2. ;)
And since you selected to use the installpack, you have to run BiG World Install.bat to actually install the mods as I tried to described before.

How did I let the big world install take over? I did everything thru the bws...

Is this problematic, or ok?

So, assuming that's ok, I basically just need to extract the bg1ub, copy the strategems v28, and extract the strategems update all into the same folder as all the rest of the mods, then run the big world install and it should be good?

Ok, extracted files as needed.

Ran the Big world install.bat

What is this?  Do I just hit number 1?  I picked 'Recommended' in the BWS (and added the 1PP high quality sounds).  This looks like it will not follow that.....

Here is the files that it found in the directory:

Seems like the batch was changed some time ago and got rid of some selections. Or maybe others can tell you where the recommended setting went.
I you want to stick with the GUI and got the mods you selected there, you'll have to restart the BWS, press the back-button and tell the BWS to go with "BWS: BiG World Project (detailed customization)". Then go into the selection screen, get your additions and let it go through again.

You may skip the download-part if you want to.

when restarting the BWS, it started at the beginning.  I had to reselect everything, and then I got this after it got past the 'download' section:

So what's your issue? The BWS had previously created some entries in the WeiDU.log and the BWS detects those.
These entries are put in there to show the used BWS-version, WeidDU and BiG World packages.
If you want to skip the restore and those are the only entries, exit, delete WeiDU.log and resume the BiG World Setup(.vbs).

Skipping the extraction process will not happen.

So if the BWS just re-extracts the stuff, that means I'll have to let that finish, then go in and apply the SCS update over the existing one before the installation of all the mods starts, correct?

Sorry for needing the hand holding, but I thought I had done everything correctly with initial setup, and then the errors finding the mentioned mods, and the ensuing hiccups have gotten me a bit confused. :)

Just trying to make sure this install in cleanly done. :)

WeiDU.log is the textfile named WeiDU with the hidden extension .log. So you keep the executable above.

Yeah, I know that, but what's the one below it with all the numbers?  It's a .log file too.....

That's not the WeiDU.log but WeiDU-201410302329.log.

Ok, log deleted, BWS re-run.  I was able to 'select' the files and force their acceptance through the console (they weren't the right size).  It appears to have worked.

Now I have this.  I assume this is where I disconnect from internet and shut down any AV software and let it do it's thing?

It's still extraction as it says in the headline. But these are the last few steps until real install. The hint about disconnecting shows up in the next 5 (?) minutes.

Well, something went wonky.  I kept screenshots of the process.  Here they are in order:
