But...

What if the player character didnt care about Imoen? What if he only cared about revenge against irenicus?

I guess much of the path of the game would be the same, you would only change the dialogue options from, "I need information on a girl that was taken by the cowled wizards.", to "I want to murder a powerful sorceror."

Oh and what if you could attack the cowled wizards directly and force them to tell you where imoen is and take you to her?

If you so happened to be a bhaalspawn of immense power, and maybe capable of casting timestop and improved alacrity while wearing a robe of vecna, those wizards might have to take you seriously.

Where the hell are all those level 20 characters coming from?
Wouldn't it be more funny if a band of level 10 opponents would try to kill PC?

Give them uber equipment that gives immunity to timestop, raises strength, kills summoned monsters instantly.

I thought of a monks robe today that would give you +5 to damage and thaco, +2 attacks per round, +2 dex, increased walking speed (or maybe just permanent improved haste?). as well as target must save vs death at -4 or be stunned, and has a 10% chance to have to save vs death at -8 or be instantly killed. oh and maybe 100% magic resistance.

how about a dual long sword wielding character with permanent greater whirlwind and improved haste with free action? have him cast timestop from a scroll and the whole party is dead.
