I just started to have CTD's when I try to sleep. I can't even play the game now because of it because I can't rest. I checked earlier saved games and it was also happening at least from the time I was in the cave under the castle on Bone Hill. I have checked all of the logs and there isn't anything showing for the crashes. I know it isn't a problem with the game since I have a save from far earlier in Chapter 2 and I can rest fine if I load that saved game.

Have you tried kicking out NPCs? Or dropping items?

Actually I waited way longer then a minute and she just stands there and won't talk to me.  I have left and did a few areas and came back and it is the same.  I wanted to finish her quest but didn't want her in my party since I replaced her with Viconia.

I guess the bug with Finch's glasses was never fixed since I just encountered it also.  At first I thought it was a problem with editing my save game so she could have her proper class (Priest of Deneir) but I checked everything and didn't find a problem so decided to do a search and found this topic.

I found another bug with Finch with removing her from my party.  The first part is that smetimes she doesn't get fully removed from my party but that is easy to fix.  (It only happened once and I fixed it with ctrl - q)  The second problem is if I remove her from the party I can't talk to her anymore. (Finch- Has nothing to say to you)  This is the only npc that this has happened to without pissing them off.

PS.  Is there anything I can edit in my save game to make Finch talk to me again?

EDIT:  I forgot to mention that I tested to see if anything changes by leaving the area and after multiple tries the same thing happens.

If you are on Windows Vista or 7 you shouldn't use the Big World Setup.vbs to run the setup (it causes problems) and instead you should run Autoit3.exe in the Big World Setup folder and select the BiG World Setup.au3 when prompted.

PS. From what I understand Tobex works like Obse and alters the game in memory so it doesn't do any permanent changes to the bgmain.exe.

I have 2 suggestions with one being make sure the downloaded Weidu has the filename WeiDU-Windows-226.zip. The next being that you should never use BiG World Setup.vbs to start the setup in Windows 7. Instead use AutoIt3.exe in the Big World Setup folder and select BiG World Setup.au3 when asked. (You could also use the installer you downloaded to start the setup but that reinstalls the files before starting the setup.

I think the confusion with my post was because I use the latest beta version of Big World Setup which after installation of the program automatically starts the setup with Autoit3.exe. I recommend using the latest beta with Windows Vista and Windows 7 because of this; since using the vbs setup to start the install causes Windows to lock files which will happen even if you have disabled UAC. This can cause severe problems with reading and writing procedures in the install especially when overwriting or patching files.

PS. I found out about the problems with the vbs setup because I tried using that method to redo the installation of BWP after finding out I missed some mods I wanted. I was never able to complete a successful install because of Windows locking files. After doing some searching through the files installed (and after finding out it still worked by reinstalling BWS) I found autoit3.exe and found out that is the method used when installing BWS.

I have another problem where no matter what I do I can't steal in Nashkel without the guards being called. I have tried being in sneak mode without anyone on screen and I have tried charming the people and the guards still get called. I even charmed everyone and moved them into another room where they were offscreen and then entered sneak mode successfully and still when I opened a chest or something the guards would be called. I didn't have any problems anywhere else I have been and so far it has happened only in Nashkel.

How it was in original Baldur's Gate is that the smith in Beregost would only buy the shells once at 500gp a piece so I guess a mod changed that to only buying 1 once at 375gp.

PS. I forgot who the option said and thought it was the smith in Beregost.

Yeah I could do that but for everything I open that happens (except book shelves) and even if I have removed everyone from sight and am in stealth mode so no one should see me to call the guards. I even tested by giving me 150 points in all of the thieving skills and it still happened. There is obviously a mod that is causing this because I don't think this happened last time I played this far when I was using bgtutu.

I had fully installed it and the game is working fine and it is just the clean up batch file that doesn't work.

PS. Why does the install take close to 30 GB when the entire space the downloads take up is only 3 GB?

Thank you for the help and I will see if that works after I get done reinstalling. (I picked some options I didn't want)

EDIT: It worked and now my install is only 20 GB which is still bigger then any other game ever (including installs of NWN and Oblivion with a huge amount of mods) but at least I have some space left on my hd.

I looked through the entire list and didn't see the kit remover in the list. I throughly searched through the mod list in the setup and even through mods I didn't install. I did this by going through all mods one at a time and also by using the search function using "kit" and "remove" separately.

I selected the infinite option on selling Ankheg Shells but now when I decided to go sell them the guy only bought 1 for 375 gold and won't buy any others. I have 18 on me in my Bag of Holding currently.

PS. I just tried again and put all of them in my inventory and this time he took all of them but still only gave me 375 gold.

I have tried many different things like trying to create a Human Samurai and a Human Hexblade but I have tried all other combinations that I can think of. the last thing I tried is creating a Half-Elf Fighter/Thief/Mage and then using an editor to add a kit. I tried Swashbuckler and I tried Kensai and both worked but when I tried Samurai it switched back to the standard Fighter/Mage/Thief. I haven't exactly decided what I am going with yet but I wanted to try various different classes before deciding on a specific character.

PS. A few others I have tried are all 4 Dragon Bard kits with a Human, a Human Dreadnaught, Human Priest of Mystra, and many others.

There have been many kits added into the game by the mods that were installed. I have been trying to add one of these kits to my PC since I saw it was an option when I was installing the 1st level npc mod. I finally found a way to add one to my character (since I can't select them when creating my character) by editing the save game with Near Infinity. The problem is that they don't show up in-game and I can't figure out another way of adding the kits.

PS. I tried adding a kit from the original game and it works so it isn't a problem with the editor or me.

The multiclass was just the last thing I tried and I have tried these with single class humans originally and they didn't work. The multiclass thing was just a test to see if something that was impossible to do normally in the game worked and with the Swashbuckler it did.

PS. The editor only shows kits that are possible with the class or classes you have selected so you can't select a Ranger kit on a Fighter. I was also going by what I found when I was altering the npcs with 1st level npcs mod which also doesn't let you choose kits that are incompatible with the chosen class or classes.

EDIT: I found a solution to my problem. I was going through the ini for tobex enabling things and there was an option to increase the amount of allowable kits and another to add a scrollbar. After enabling those all of the kits appeared in character creation and I can now select them.

There needs to be a warning also that it removes them entirely from use for the PC since the description says it just removes it from the character creation screen,

PS. I was actually including the mods also in my comparision before but I was wrong on NWN and it is currently 24 GB so is bigger then my BG2 install. (I think that was a previous NWN install that was smaller.

I just did an install using BWS using a standard install with a couple expert mods and after finishing it now my install takes over 30 GB. I tried to run the clean up bat file but it just comes up with 2 "The system cannot find the file specified." errors and doesn't do anything. Most of the data (20 GB) is in the data directory (14 GB) and the generalized_biffing diresctory (6 GB) and I want to know what I can delete or how to get the clean up batch file to work.

I used the newest version of BWS (bws_9-20101130) to install and I am on Windows 7 64-bit.

Shadowkeeper doesn't have the ability (that I know of) to use mod added kits.  What you need to do is download near infinity and add the kit to your character with that.  To edit a save game to add a kit you go down the list to "Save" then select your save game.  then click on baldur.gam and in the upper right hand corner is your character (in the lower right hand corner is the npcs) which you select and click edit.  next go to the edit tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom and double-click on the last line.  Scroll down till you find the line that says kit and click on where it says what kit you have and select the one you want.


PS.  Just to let you know I have noticed that not all kits show up for npcs (incase you want to add a kit to an npc) but there is still a way to add a kit that doesn't show up to an npc.  In the save game your editing go to the character you created and go to where you select the kits and find the kit you want for the npc.  Right-click on the line after selecting the kit and select view as hex.  Then copy and paste the numbers from there to the same place in the npc you want to add the kit to.

In the left room in the temple most of the containers have traps on them.  the problem is that they are impossible to detect.  The thief I'm using for traps has 180 in find traps and I even cheated it up to 250 and I still couldn't detect the traps.

I found another bug that is really annoying.  I have found two blank items (no icon and no name) in the castle on Bone Hill.  The biggest problem with this is that they can't be removed from your inventory and prevent you from picking up more stuff.  I have to save and reload to get rid of it and be able to pick up things again.
